Most of the times we moviegoers don’t give these remakes a chance, name a time when you actually did see a really good remake from an original movie! If you didn’t name one then thats good, because so far there hasn’t really been any good remakes; until now! The movie I am reviewing today is Point Break!
The movie Point Break is about a man named Johnny Utah (Luke Bracey) who suffered through a tragic loss that forces him to join the FBI. As Utah helps the FBI he comes across a case of these adrenaline junkies who supposedly robs all these rich and mighty places. However in all cases the robber’s don’t keep the money or jewelry or anything that they steal, they give it to the people. Johnny Utah believes that these junkies are not junkies but are trying to complete a task that takes sacrifice, courage, and not afraid to die stunts. In these trials that these people are doing, they have a set of (I think) 5 trials, by the time Utah (Luke Bracey) caught up with them they had already completed 3 of the trials. The FBI allows Utah to go undercover to find out more about this group, but if he fails to do report any strange activity or a knowledge to his theory then the FBI will cut him off from the undercover gig. As Johnny was going undercover he met a man named Bodhi (Edgar Ramirez) who is the leader of the group going through the trials, after Bodhi saving Johnny from a surfing accident that happened he invites him on a hike to find out if Johnny has what it takes to continue on the adrenaline tasks ahead. Will Johnny Utah be able to survive this crazy adventure? Or Will Johnny die trying to bring Bodhi into custody? Find out by going to go see this film.
Now like I said above before, there are a lot of remakes out there in the movie industry now in these days and a lot of them are really not good at all when compared to the original. But this one is different, you see when they made the original Point Break movie it was like in the 80’s or 90’s when they did it so they were just scratching the surfaces in special effects and animation in those years for live action movies. But with this film since they chose to wait so many years to remake it, they did the right move. They really did; especially how heavy special effects it was for this remake. Most would say because of it being special effects heavy that it would be just VFX eye candy; thats not what I’m telling you. What I’m telling you is that they improved on the VFX (visual effects) a whole lot and it makes the movie even more enjoyable. I would highly recommend this film to any and all to see, wither you wait for it to come out on DVD, or if you see it in theaters still go for it! It really will get your adrenaline pumping while watching this movie! I would give this film 4 1/2 out of 5 stars!
