While we fans wait for our favorite show to return in April 1, 2016 news about a new crossover between The Vampire Diaries and The Originals had spread throughout the media. Ever since the last crossover that aired in February 26, 2016, “Moonlight on the Bayou” (7×14), some fans (including me) has been wondering if there would be another one, specially after the news that this event helped somewhat with ratings.
In the Walker Stalker Con Dallas 2016, Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley answered some questions from the fans. One question was along the lines “if there would be another crossover before the season finale” (you can see the interview on YouTube, Walker Stalker Dallas: The Vampire Diaries). To this question, both Ian and Paul practically confirmed another crossover. But the reminder question was, which of the characters will be doing the crossover?
We already saw in the last one, Stephan (Paul Wesley) going to New Orleans and meeting with Klaus (Joseph Morgan), but now Stephan is on the run once again after leaving Caroline (Candice King) with the babies on Dallas. Therefore, I do not think that he would return to New Orleans anytime soon, nor Damon (Ian Somerhalder) who we saw that chose to desiccate beside Elena’s (Nina Dobrev) coffin. This facts then leaves only one character that can do the crossover, Caroline, (or so some fans thought) since we already saw her going to New Orleans with the twins in a flash forward looking for Klaus. But, let me tell you, sadly Caroline is not the one doing the crossover.
Access Hollywood a few days ago published an article confirming another crossover; they had the opportunity to interview Michael Narducci, Excecutive Producer of The Originals. In this article Narducci broke the news that “two of the Mikaelson siblings are going back to Mystic Falls and there encounter Matt (Zach Roerig)” (Access Hollywood, 2016). Yes, you read it correctly, Matt. Soon after this news, social media explode with fans that were not that happy of Matt doing the crossover, it was even cataloged as “the crossover no one wants” by Zap2it.
To be honest I was surprised myself that Matt is the one doing the crossover. We just need to hope is a good one and that could, at least help with ratings. Therefore, let ask you: are you happy with the new crossover and will you watch it? In my opinion, I’m happy we are getting more crossover, just it was not what I was expecting, so I will watch it to judge it, while hopping that they surprise me this time. What about you?
Stay tuned and do not forget to watch The Vampires Diaries and The Originals on The CW, returns Friday April 1, 2016.
