Last night, was probably one of the most talked about Shadowhunters episodes since the show premiered, the excitement of this fandom is contagious. Coupled with the fact that the Shadowhunters cast just went to wonder con a few days ago.
On the other hand, this episode was actually really good, in tonights episode the preparations of Alec and Lydia’s wedding are being made with Izzy at the helm of it.
So the parabatai bond is just weak through this episode, with Jace and Alec not talking with each other. But Izzy’s determination is a great quality, because she finally gets them talking to each other again, it was such a nice scene. Something finally that resemblances their relationship from the books, I mean the fight between them was so much MORE dramatic in the show compared to there dynamic in the books.
On the plus side, at least we got to see Simon and Clary interact. Ever since he turned into a vampire, there friendship has been kinda put on hold. Which is understandible, although I’ve gotta say that I just love vampire Simon.
The awkward small talk with Clary and Jace was probably one of the funniest moments, quite similar to the conduct of them in the books, when they find out that there siblings. With the hype of Ragnor Fell, his appearance in tonights episode, was sure short lived which was disappointing.
So say what you will about Lydia, she was a character that was made for the show, she never existed in the books, but she is definitely a great complex and intriguing character, which is why I liked her. Its the one thing that the writers have done well, keeping in mind that this was something that they created, that isn’t Cassandra’s. I mean her understanding in this episode brought tears to my eyes, its truly just such a beautiful thing to see when someone cares that much about another person to let them be happy. It would have been nice if she stuck around so that we could of seen them still have their friendship and understanding that they do. I truly hope that this isn’t the last we see of her character, it would be nice to see her again, once the show explores Idris.
Emeraude Tobia is so amazing, and I will continue saying this. She does such a DAMN incredible job in the show, encompassing everything that is Izzy. I really enjoyed that scene she shared with Simon, seeing him giving her advice on a bachelor party was quite a change of dynamic. But it was nice to see. This is the relationship that will take the longest to develop on screen, but its the one I’m personally most excited to watch form on the show, so I can’t wait to see what they do next season for these two characters.
So being knowing that they are brother and sister, kinda makes the dynamic between Clary and Jace shift, and for obvious reasons it makes sense that theres a tension. Magnus sure nows how to make things even more awkward, and not only that but it made things so much more dramatic. Its only going to get more so from her on now. Which intrigues me on how there going to tackle season two with this.
With only one more episode left this season, Im curious to see how everything will play out and what cliffhanger thew writers are going to leave us with until season two.
