Chicago Fire (S4E18): “On the Warpath”

Review:

I’ll be honest, I’ve never watched a full episode Chicago Fire until now. I wasn’t sure what to expect. I’d seen clips and knew that some of the fire deaths could be difficult to look at and that crime investigations compliment the cases very well.  Now after having seen a complete episode, I can officially say, this series is so much more than what would typically be expected. This is a complex show, with an interesting web of relationships and cases that I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of.

When Brett gets swept into a criminal’s path, after being forced to hand over her ID, Chicago PD’s Anthony helps track down the criminal and keep her safe. This plot arc showed me the depth of Chicago Fire goes. Rather than just handle typical fire emergencies, the series truly takes us into the lives of the firemen and women.

What many of us were most excited for last night was Mouch and Platt’s wedding! Held at Molly’s, the two tied to knot after both having a moment of cold feet. I thought these moments were sweet, and showed the depth and complexity of their relationship. It was especially nice to see Platt emotional and vulnerable, as she is typically a tightly-wound character. This scene was juxtaposed with Cassie and Matt’s shaky future – and the reality of young(er) love and what happens when one partner is ready to settle down and the other isn’t. It will be interesting to see how this plot arc develops.

I’m very thrilled to see the rest of the series unfold and catch up on the other three seasons! What are your favorite things about Chicago Fire? Let me know what to look out for as I binge-watch!
