I’m accepting MacGyver for what it is; a cheesy procedural with moments of intense emotion. Because of my acceptance, this show is beginning to grow on me.
This episode added another arc. In addition to the on going Nikki hunt, the hunt for the Ghost has been introduced.
The Ghost is a bomber that killed a close friend and coworker of MacGyver’s. He has carried the guilt and sadness with him for a long time but manages to deal with some of it when he finally goes to meet his friend’s daughter at the end of the episode.
They hunt the Ghost in NY because he is attempting to disrupt UN peace talks. They get very close but Dalton steps on a pressure plate in a truck the ghost planted and that leaves the team dealing with than situation rather than going after the Ghost. MacGyver manages to disarm the bomb but not before Dalton tells him that whatever happens, it’s not his fault. I felt like that was a pretty touching moment.
Buss laugh moment of this episode: The discussion on why no one wants to be Taft for Halloween. They want to be other presidents because Taft is either too fat or just not cool enough. You have to watch the scene at the end of the episode to get the laughter. lol
Punched in the feels moment of this episode: When MacGyver goes to meet his friend’s daughter and says he’ll tell her all about her Dad if she wants him to. Pulled at my heart strings so hard! Imagine being a kid and knowing how awesome your Dad is but never actually getting to meet him because some maniac decided his life was expendable…smh.
Made me ponder for a sec moment of this episode: The statement above. I don’t know how military families do it but hats off to them. I honestly don’t know what I would do if I found out my loved one was abruptly taken from me in such a violent manner.
