Monday FOX premiered the comedy series The Mick. The Mick is an show about Mackenzie “Mickey“ murphy (Kaitlin Olson, “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”) . a hard-living, foul-mouthed, cigarette-smoking woman who moves to affluent Greenwich, CT to raise the spoiled kids of her wealthy sister who has fled the country to avoid a federal indictment. Mickey becomes the guardian of Sabrina. Chip and Ben and she has the live he always wanted, except now she has to Transform these outrageously spoiled children into honest, hard-working, decent members of society. And as irresponsible as Mickey has been her entire life, she may discover that responsibility and motherhood aren’t the buzzkill she always thought they would be.
When I first heard of the show it reminded me about “Melissa and joey” in which the main character also raises her cousins when her sister is in prison. But after when I watched the first episode the resemblance is mostly gone. The pilot is in my opinion a good start for the show in which you get the begin of the story and you get introduced to the characters. The jokes in this episode are good but they are mostly already shown in the trailer. The thing I liked most about the show/pilot are the children, which have strong personalities. Sabrina (Sofia Black-D’Elia) an idealistic teenager who doesn’t want to listen to Mackenzie, the middle child Chip (Thomas Barbusca) is a typical rich kid and thinks he can sue everything and the youngest and cutest child is Ben (Jack Stanton) a little boy who misses his parents and is curious about the world. Luckily Mickey gets help raising these children from the maid, Alba (Carla Jiminez). I think the show had an great casting but I hope the show gets funnier and more unexpecting in the following episodes and I’m curious how the next episodes are gonna be.
