The Flash (S03E11) “Dead or Alive”

Okay this episode had a lot of interesting things happen, we had Jessica Camacho’s Gypsy character appear for the episode which I have to say I have been a fan of Jessica Camacho’s since she appeared on the show ‘Sleepy Hollow’ and this show makes me even more of a fan of hers. But I also feel like this episode was trying to make the episode 50/50; half of it being with Cisco (Carlos Valdes) flirting and fighting against Gypsy (Jessica Camacho) and the other half being with Barry (Grant Gustin) and Iris (Candice Patton) trying to figure out how to deal with the news of Iris going to die in 4 months. Overall I did like the episode but I just wish they would’ve focused more on one subject and not hop all over the place to try to get all characters air time. There are some characters that could’ve done without air time in this episode.

In this episode: Barry (Grant Gustin) and Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) stopping criminals from getting away with fire arms. When the speedsters stop the criminals they are confronted by a bus load of cheerleaders, the cheerleaders take pictures with Kid Flash/Wally and Wally speeds off. The team then celebrates another win for Wally (a lot like how the team used to do for Barry).

Later during the day H.R. (Tom Cavanagh) gets a visitor at Star Labs, Gypsy (Jessica Camacho) is entrusted to bring back H. R. Wells for the crime he has committed, by breaking the most important law of Earth-19. H.R. then goes on to tell Barry, Cisco (Carlos Valdes), and Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) back when Zoom (Teddy Sears) came to many of the earths of the multi-verse and came to try to destroy Earth-19 but when Zoom was destroyed on Earth-1. Earth-19 came up with a law that no one would ever again breech through the barriers of the multi-verse and whoever does break the law will have these guardians/bounty hunters to travel through the breeches to get back that one who breaks the law and kill them.

Cisco then comes up with the idea of keeping H.R. on their Earth; by challenging Gypsy by a trial of combat by Earth-19’s rules. Gypsy agrees but says if anyone tries disobeying the terms of Gypsy and Cisco, the deal will be off and H.R. goes back to Earth-19 for his punishment. Cisco then agrees to train in the training room; when H.R., Barry, Caitlin and Julian (Tom Felton) fail at hitting the right target with his vibe powers. Barry and H.R. then try going against the agreement and capture Gypsy for themselves. When Barry tries apprehending Gypsy, she takes H.R. and tells Barry to tell Cisco the deal is off but has a change of heart.

While Cisco (Valdes) is freaking out Barry tries helping him out by calming him down with a speech but Julian brings great news for Cisco revealing to him a fault in Gypsy’s foot work when she lands out of her vibing breeches. Cisco then takes this info to heart and hopes it will help him in his trial of combat fight with Gypsy.

Meanwhile, Iris (Candic Patton) and Wally (Lonsdale) try taking down an arms dealer but Iris chooses to go on a suicide mission and not defend herself. Wally then takes out the arms dealer and wonders what is going on with Iris. With Iris almost getting herself killed he brings it up to Barry; Barry talks to Iris and she finally reveals she thinks her life when shes killed in the next 4 months that it will amount to nothing. Barry then assures to Iris her life will never amount to nothing and that they don’t know what will happen in the future but all they can do is hope its going to be good.

Meanwhile with Cisco; Cisco goes to the location for the fight and begins to fight Gypsy but when Gypsy starts using references towards Cisco’s favorite movies she takes him through a breech leading to Earth-2 where they have a short fight which then Cisco leads them through another breech leading to Earth-39 (Supergirl’s Earth) landing on top of Catco’s Cat Grant’s table breaking the table with Teschmacher (Andrea Brooks) hiding behind a journalist chair. After Gypsy breeches the two of them to another Earth, Teschmacher then wonders how weirder her day could possibly get. Gypsy then lands on top of Cisco on what looks like a Star Wars Mustafar landscape; Cisco then breeches the two of them back to Earth-1 where Gypsy then tries her trick in hoping in her own breech and teleport somewhere else but backfires and Cisco wins.

Gypsy then tells the team she will go back to Earth-19 and lie to the counsel about H.R. but he will never be allowed to go back to his earth. H.R. then agrees to the terms and Gypsy assures Cisco they will meet again someday and Gypsy breeches back to her own Earth.

In the end of the episode: Barry tells Wally its time to upgrade his training because its not Barry whose going to stop Savitar from killing Iris but its going to be Wally.
