Arrow: (S05E12) “Bratva”

Review: The opening scene of Arrow was badass, because we get the insight of Oliver’s (Stephen Amell) training, executed by Talia al Ghul (Lexa Doig).

The new team Arrow flew to Russia to take care of a nuclear weapon and that was quite interesting! The new member, Dinah Drake (Juliana Harkavy), looks badass as hell. I called it the first time she appeared on the show. Then Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards), Rory (Joe Dinicol) and Curtis (Echo Kellum) all played tough to get to a Russian hacker, which was pretty badass, too.

It was really great seeing Diggle (David Ramsey) back in the team, he is my absolute favorite character and I felt almost empty without him. Sadly, though … Diggle yet again crossed the line with letting things get too personal and he let his frustration out on the man they captured. It’s alright, I get it. He is a soldier at heart and he feels like he needs to take some things into his own hands from time to time. And he stopped himself from killing Walker (Garry Chalk) in the end, so all is good!

What I liked about this episode is that the Team Arrow focused on Walker, who was the new villain. I am really not intrigued by the general storyline of season 5 – the question: who is Prometheus. I prefer the producing styling of season 1, where they had a new villain every episode. They produced this particular episode that same way and I am very happy about that.

Meanwhile, Lance (Paul Blackthorne) is back and Rene (Rick Gonzalez) was helping him get back on track. Nice moment. The one thing is, though, they need to stop talking about Laurel (Katie Cassidy) … If your drinking game is “Laurel” this season, you have to deal with the fact that you might be an alcoholic.

Also, listen. Susan Wiliams (Carly Pope) as the new romantic interest for Oliver sounds alright and all, but Dinah and Oliver would be the most badass couple ever. I’m just saying! And Susan is good at making her research, which means she now knows Oliver is the Green Arrow and anything can happen from here on …

Truly best episode of the season!
