The Mist (S01E03) "Show and Tell"

This episode is an improvement from last weeks but like how I said last weeks episode was more of getting to know more characters and getting to know the already known characters a little bit better. Well this episode was touching more on horror and character development with our characters, we also see a little connection of trust starting to happen between Bryan (Okezie Morro) and Mia (Danica Curcic). And I’m pretty sure we are starting to see our crazy religious person surfacing through Nathalie (Frances Conroy) which I mean we all should know with Stephen King’s stories the religious nut case never lives that long in the story, but I’m curious to see how long she will live within this series. Especially since this series is giving us more in depth storytelling with the story than the movie did, but I’m curious to see how long they can keep this series going good.
In this episode, we have Eve (Alyssa Sutherland) working hard to try to reconnect with her daughter Alex (Gus Birney) but all what Alex wants is to get out of the same place that the “rapist” Jay (Luke Crosgrove) staying at while the Mist is around and the people trapped in the mall are waiting for help to arrive; if it ever arrives that is. Eve makes the suggestion of her, Kimi (Irene Bedard), and Alex all moving to a different part of the mall so they don’t have to be in the same area as Jay. While trying to find a different place to bunk down, Jay confronts Alex explaining to her, he never raped her but allowed her to sleep off being black out drunk in his room. But who can we really trust in this situation? Whose word is the truth?
Nathalie (Frances Conroy) also began contemplating about suicide however instead she lead a man to his death by one of the Mist’s creatures entering into his ear and making him sprout moth wings which apparently killed the man. Nathalie then tells Father Romanov (Dan Butler) she has found god but not the god he prays to.
Back at the mall, the townspeople become scared knowing in secret there are military men and women who were among them in the mall. Confronting one of them didn’t get any answers about why the mist is around. When Gus (Isiah Whitlock Jr.) suggests the people in the mall need a set of rules to go by, Eve doesn’t feel like everyone is going to agree to these rules. Eve takes Alex and some others who wanted to come along because they didn’t feel safe from the rules especially when everyone agrees on the rule “those who hurt others get thrown out of the mall”.
At the Church, Kevin (Morgan Spector) gets thrown into the basement trying to help break out the prisoners, now with them theres only one hope in who will get them out. Adrian (Russell Posner) gets baptized by Father Romanov, only to get to the keys to help Kevin and the others out. Which leads Kevin, Adrian, Mia (Danica Curcic) and Bryan (Okezie Morro) out in the mist once again to try to get to the mall but will they survive guess we will have to find out next week.
In the end of the episode, Eve and her group are bunking down in the loading docks of the mall with Alex writing messages hoping they get to her father or anyone for help. Alex and everyone else of the group send the messages off on balloons. When Kimi (Irene Bedard) asks Alex what inspired her to send the messages with the balloons, her only response is she really misses her dad.
