Jessica A Caesar, MEME QUEENS

I was recently introduced to the hilariously funny Jessica A Caesar, creator of the Youtube Comedy series Meme Queens and asked her some questions.

Here’s what she said:

How did you get started acting?

I knew acting was what I wanted to pursue professionally when I was a teenager. When I was 16, I started doing musicals at the community theatre and I also did plays at my high school. Almost a year after graduation, I was cast in my first local TV commercial and started doing student films and other independent projects as well.

What made you want to act?

I was very shy growing up, but acting was my way of coming out of my shell. I always liked entertaining people and making them laugh ever since I was a little girl.  I loved watching 90s sitcoms on TV and I always told myself, “that’s what I am going to do one day”.

What was your first big break?

When I was cast on The Young and the Restless during their 40th  It was my first network TV credit, it was the #1 Daytime Soap, and I got to be in 3 episodes.

What’s your favorite job and why?

I really don’t have one favorite job. I’ve had so many wonderful and favorite moments and experiences working on different sets.  Getting to work opposite some amazing actors and directors whose work I’ve admired for years is always the favorite part of my job.

If you could work with anyone, who would it be?

That’s a tough one. I would have to go with Melissa McCarthy or Kate McKinnon. They are comedic geniuses and so great at their craft.

How did you come up with Meme Queens?

Well, I knew that I wanted to do some kind of spoof of reality television to start with and for some reason I always found the question and answer portion during the Miss USA Pageant to be hilarious. So, I decided to put the two together but instead of them doing a reality TV show, I thought it would be funnier if they did an over the top internet reality show.

What do you hope comes of the series?

We are living through some tough times right now and there is so much adversity.  Laughter is a good way to allow us to temporarily take our minds and focus off of all the bad things that are going on in the world.  I want to make people laugh and enjoy themselves. I actually hope that they laugh so much that their stomachs start to hurt.

Do you write it?

Yes I do. I do most of my writing when I am creating and producing my own content.

What do you want people to take away from it after watching it?

I want people to take away the fact that women can excel in comedy too, not just men.  The leads in this series are female and the show was written by two females as well.

What do you want people to know about yourself?

I am easy going and I always like to have fun and enjoy myself.  Life is too short and I like to live it to the fullest.

Where do you see your career going next?

If only I had a magic 8 ball that I could shake and it would tell me lol. I would love to be on a network TV comedy show that lasts for 10 seasons.  I also see myself doing some movies as well.

Do you have any upcoming jobs?

My episode of Vice Principals will be airing soon on HBO.

What’s one thing about yourself that would surprise your fans?

I am a HUGE football fan. Actually, I think I am obsessed with the sport. I used to trash talk a lot during games, but I’ve become better at not doing that anymore. It always sucks and hurts more when your team loses the game in the end.
