I had the privilege of having a very down to earth interview with Tasos Hernandez.
Hi Tasos. First off thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to sit down and meet with me today. I know the fans of “The Bachelorette”, “Bachelor In Paradise”, “Better Call Saul”, “The Night Shift” & “Midnight Texas” will really enjoy this interview.
You are an accomplished actor in your own right.
When did you first find out that acting was the career path you wanted to take?
I have always had a passion for acting but during high school acting wasn’t necessarily the cool thing to do and I received a lot of negative attention from my peers. While I was on The Bachelorette, I was removed from everything and was forced to connect back with my creative side. I started writing songs and lyrics and found myself writing short stories to help pass the time and really wanted to continue telling stories through acting. As soon as I returned from the show, I decided to take some of my saved money and reinvest it back into acting classes and workshops to educate myself and take my acting abilities to the next level.
Can you tell us about your latest project coming out “Just Getting Started”? How much fun was it working with Morgan Freeman, Tommy Lee Jones, Rene Russo, Joe Pantoliano, Glenne Headly and Sheryl Lee Ralph?
Just Getting Started is a two-hander action comedy in the vein of Midnight Run about an ex-FBI agent (Jones) and an ex-mob lawyer in the witness protection program (Freeman) having to put aside their petty rivalry on the golf course to fend off a mob hit.
Working with all these amazing actors was something I will never forget. They treated everyone with respect throughout the entire filming process. They were also very thorough with their craft and wanted to take advantage of every shot. They all knew the exact shot that was necessary for the scene and also wanted to experiment with some improvisation from time to time.
Who was your favorite cast member to work with?
I had the privilege of working directly with Freeman and Jones for all my scenes. They were both phenomenal and I can’t really pick a favorite.
Is there any cast member you wished you could have shared more scenes with?
I would have enjoyed the opportunity to work more with Russo & Pantoliano. I was able to witness some of their work on set and I think to share a few more scenes with them would have been the icing on the cake.
Would you ever reprise a role on a particular show? Which one would it be?
I’m a big fan of adventure/sci-fi and love all the old 80’s reboots that are coming out. If they ever do a Back To The Future reboot, then I am all in!
Okay, I have to ask, what was harder for you. Doing the “The Bachelorette” or “Bachelor In Paradise”? This question is for all your fans.
They were both difficult but fun at the same time. I had so many amazing opportunities to see and do some interesting things. I met a variety of interesting people and created some great friendships. I would say that because I had more time on The Bachelorette then that would be the more memorable one for me.
Is there a piece of advice you could offer anyone starting out, what would it be?
DON’T GIVE UP! This industry is not easy and you are not likely to find immediate success. You need to make sure that you find the time to educate yourself and put your ego aside and realize that you may not know everything. If you ever need any advise, I am always here to help.
Can we expect any outside projects from you in the near future? You know we are behind you and supporting you 100%. We’d love to hear about any projects or updates. We are #TeamTasos here at @tvserieshub
At the current moment I have two more project scheduled for 2018.
The first is the movie Fast Color which is a cool sci-fi/thriller based in a dystopian future where the world’s water supply has become low and a select group of humans have developed superhuman abilities. It features amazing performances from Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Beauty & The Beast), David Strathairn (Good Night & Good Luck) and Lorraine Toussaint (Orange Is The New Black).
The second would be a role on NBC’s The Brave. The episode is set to air in early January 2018 and I get the opportunity to show off my bilingual skills and speak Spanish for my role.
Tasos, thank you so much for sharing you’re time with us today.
