Alright guys we made it to the big night event! The big crossover we have been hearing all about ever since January of this year that the producers promised us fans that everything would be bigger and better than last years crossover. And you know something, they are right! We got a big hit on the first part of the crossover with so much that had happened and I’m excited to review this episode so lets get down to it!
So with this being part one we had to be introduced to our villains and their earth for this crossover. We are introduced to the dark, gritty, (something Batman would have a field day in) gothic, world of Earth-X which is the 53rd Earth in the multiverse in the Arrowverse universe. Which there are more earths but because DC Entertainment Universe (The movie universe) wants to reveal more of the earths that the TV shows don’t reveal which is nice it gives us comic book fans something to look forward to. On this Earth-X we are taken into a reality to our worst fears, the Nazi’s won the second World War; which we see Nazi versions of our heroes and some who rebel against the Nazi’s because there will always be rebels against the evil forces. We are introduced to Nazi Arrow (Stephen Amell) who is about to talk to one of the rinks officers when he is stopped by Rebel Guardian (Mechad Brooks) the two of them fight and Nazi Arrow kills Guardian. Nazi Arrow takes a device to the officer that will allow them to breach earths. The officer is told he has one day to get the device working.
On Earth 1, we see Iris (Candice Patton) and Barry (Grant Gustin) getting ready for the wedding. Barry goes on a run only to find out that they don’t have all the spots of where people should sit because not everyone has RSVP’d to the wedding. Which is something that they need to have taken care of. We are then taken to Star City seeing Green Arrow/Oliver (Stephen Amell) fighting ninja’s and Overwatch/Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) talking away in his ear piece about needing an answer about Barry’s wedding. Oliver says of course they are going; I mean it would just be rude if he didn’t go. Then we are taken to England 1870 something with the Legends; Sara (Caity Lotz), Jax (Franz Darmeh), Stein (Victor Garber), and Rory/Heatwave (Dominic Purcell) all fighting medevil knights in the wrong time era. Sara asks if they ever RSVP’d to Barry’s wedding, and all say no, so Stein makes it an operation to bring the Legends to the wedding.
Last but not least we are taken to Earth 39 or was it 38 one of those two, in National City where Kara/Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) is fighting a Dominator. Once the Dominator is subdued Kara goes to the D.E.O. to report what she had fought and then goes home. When Kara and Alex (Chyler Leigh) gets to her apartment, Alex sees the invitation but Kara says she doesn’t want to go. Especially with everything that is happening with the two of them right now. But when Alex gets down, Kara gets back up and chooses to take her and Alex to Earth 1 for Barry’s wedding.
So with this episode yes we had the wedding or at least the beginning parts of the wedding, including a special singing performance by Kara singing ‘Running Home To You.’ For those of you that don’t remember the song was first sang by Barry when he was proposing to Iris last season of The Flash series. And to have this song sang at their wedding for the opening song for Iris to walk down the isle made that song more important to The Flash series. I’m sure a lot will agree on that! I mean just seeing Barry getting teary eyed when he saw Iris walk down the isle made me teary eye. But I was getting more teary eyed by Kara (Benoist) performance on that song, I just wonder when it comes the reception time of the official wedding without interruptions, I wonder if Kara will sing the full song of Running Home To You, cause the whole song is a great song. I guess we will see!
Another thing I’m curious about is who is the mysterious caterer (Jessica Parker Kennedy) I have a theory on that. Only because when she approached Barry; the way how she talked to him tripping over her words like how Barry does when he’s nervous or even when he first met Felicity during the series Arrow on season 2. This caterer literally reminded me so much of Barry! My theory is that it is one of Barry’s kids that has time traveled through the speed force to be able to watch the wedding of the century which is what Barry and Iris’s wedding is counted as throughout the history of the heroes in the future. So it could be very possible that it is one of Barry’s kids that wanted to see how the wedding went down.
Of course the wedding had to be interrupted by Nazi’s from Earth-X! I love how both Oliver and Kara say at the same time “I hate Nazi’s” that had me giggle a bit. The heroes work on getting everyone out of the church so no one gets hurt. Kara/Supergirl gets Nazi Powergirl (Melissa Benoist) out of the church and they have a battle over the city but doesn’t last long. Oliver has a fight against Nazi Arrow finding that the archer knows his moves by heart. Alex and Sara fight together taking down Nazi soldiers and taking prisoner Prometheus (Colin Donnell). When the enemies retreat, our heroes take Prometheus to Star Labs to put him in the prisoner cell meant for meta-humans but it will do for the evil Nazi villain.
This was the first part of the 4 part crossover event! Part 2 came on for Arrow which aired the same night as Supergirl! Tonight we see Part 3 and Part 4 on The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow!
