One of Jack’s (George Eads) many undercover alias has garnered some unwanted attention. Someone is using his disabled identity and they must go to New Orleans to confront the formidable foe, and stop them before they do too much damage. We soon realize that the con artist isn’t the real threat, it seems as though Jack, or should I say, Duke has made many enemies.
While Jack Matty (Meredith Eaton) and Mac (Lucas Till) try to put an end to the con-artisit’s misgivings, Riley (Tristin Mays) and Bozer (Justin Hires) are left back at the foundation. Where she uncover’s Bozer’s little secret, the forbidden communication between him and the love of his life, Leanna. After letting him sweat a little bit, Riley doesn’t have the heart to rat him out to the boss. Instead of making life a living hell for Bozer, she helps him establish a secure way of communicating with his love.
In New Orleans they seem to be coming up empty, until MacGyver pulls another miracle out of his bag of tricks, pin pointing some impertinent information that allows them to find and confront the con-artist. She is posing as “Duke’s” wife, Dixie (Amy Smart), and seems to be very good at what she does. Considering she has 17 CIA undercover identities in her possession, which makes her a dangerous foe. Not only is she a master of her trade, but she seems to have a certain power over Jack.
The best laid plans always go sideways in this show, and this episode is no different. There are many people in the city who have it out for Jack’s other alias, many of them want him dead. When they are added to the mix, it becomes pure chaos. Not only is Dixie caught up in the middle of it, Jack is rendered unconscious and they are taken away to face their impending doom.
Things aren’t looking so good for Jack and his companion, especially when more slighted enemies join the ranks, these ones are willing to pay top dollar to put an end to Duke for good. Time is running short for Jack, but with MacGyver and Matty pulling all their possible strings, they won’t give up until he is back with them. There are a few very tense moments, especially when Jack is put into an incinerator, but have no fear, MacGyver swoops in to save the day just in time.
Another happy ending, even if Jack ended up getting swindled out of his stuff in the end. Even with a pardon from higher-ups, Dixie, real name Dawn, couldn’t help but revert back to her old ways. After all, old habits die hard. At least Jack got lucky out of the deal.
No matter what the team goes through, they always have each others backs. Something big is coming, and they will need each other more than ever.
Hold on to your porta-potty. It’s going to be a bumpy ride.
MacGyver airs on CBS and Global at 8/7c.
