Okay this episode was good, I have to say that it seems like these episodes for the remaining of the season are going to be getting better. It seems like this episode was focused on Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath) which always has good moments when they do episodes based around her. We also had some cool moments in the episode, which I will get to in a little bit!
Okay so for those that don’t always like episodes like this you will probably disagree with most what I’m about to say, but for those that do like episodes like this one you will definitely agree. With this episode we had literally a cat and dog fight that seemed to almost bring full out war to the city. After a threat among his life Morgan Edge (Adrian Pasdar) makes an effort to threat Lena Luthor’s (Katie McGrath) life, which just made the two go back and forth. While the two go back and forth with their verbal fighting, we also saw some parts of Lena that reminded her what makes her a better Luthor than any of the rest of her family. It’s because of friends that she has to rely on, which is true, whenever Kara (Melissa Benoist) becomes interacted with Lena, Kara always brings the better part of Lena out. No matter what, when Lena and Kara are together Lena’s better part is always out to show that she is the better person.
Now of course, there is always someone who is going to try to do things the evil way, hinting at Lillian Luthor (Brenda Strong). And of course Lillian couldn’t let her daughter get hurt so she tries going all evil on Morgan Edge. But like always her evil doings are undone by Supergirl/Kara. But we did get a cool scene with the kryptonite Luthor suit that we were promised to have in an episode by the producers back in 2017. But you would think that these evil Luthor’s would be learning from each of the evil ones in the family and be like “note to self lets not do that” but no instead they all do the exact same wrong decisions. At least Lena learns from everything and that in my opinion is why she will always be the better Luthor in the family.
Now that Luthor suit, in my opinion I was happy to see it in the episode but at the same time, I have questions about it. Like what was the deal with that mask it looked like a rejected version for Thor’s destroyer. I mean seriously why does every robotic suit now in these days have to have a mask. When we first got the Luthor suit in the animated series, there was no mask, all there was; was a glass plate to protect Lex from Superman’s blows. And I was expecting something like that for the suit, but no instead we get a suit that at first was attaching to Lillian that looked like the classic suit and then there was additional parts that looked like they were totally unnecessary like that mask. Everything else about the suit I can live with because I understand they have to make it look somewhat suitable to wear but why the mask?
Another thing I liked about this episode was the opening sequence of the episode. Seeing Kara having a nightmare about Reign (Odette Annable), Purity (Krys Marshall), and Pestilence flying down with the rest of the world engulfed in explosions and death and destruction. I guess this nightmare is suppose to represent as a sign of the apocalypse that Reign and her other world killers will bring down upon the world if Kara/Supergirl fails to stop them this season. But this sequence was really interesting and I hope they reveal who will be playing Pestilence soon cause once Purity makes her debut they will have a short window to reveal the next world killer!
