So with this episode we had a lot that happened within it, but it did open up to more topics that we have going on in our own world to this day. Yes it brought back racism with this episode but it also brought other realizations that people in this world come to that cancel out racism but only for that brief moment. They also touched a little bit on bullying/cyber bullying in this episode. We had superhero awesomeness, and we had so much action, I think this episode is a great episode!
Now in this episode we begin with Anissa (Nafessa Williams) with a group of protesters gathering around a, I believe it was a confederate statue that they were going to publicly vandalize to show they hate the statue because of what it represents to a black individual. With this brought on the police to arrest all of the protesters including Anissa. Which brings me to something that had happened in the real world in Missouri and other states of the confederate statues being vandalized during the celebration of the such and such anniversaries of them being made. And just like how it happened in this series the real life event happened with a lot of arrests as well this past year.
Now one of the things that we today in society have to deal with, especially for our younger generations have to deal with bullying. Not just physical bullying but cyber now as well. Which in our generations they don’t know how to deal with cyber bullying and often try reaching out to their parents for help or guidance in how to deal with this in their lives. Only to find out either the parents just think its a way of getting attention or they just don’t think much of the situation, only to find out that the situation ends in suicide. Luckily in this series they have a system for someone to be watching all social media feeds so no student gets cyber bullied and then does the deed of committing suicide. All I have to say to my readers, if you know someone who is being cyber bullied or know of someone who is currently having a situation and their voice is not being heard, be that person that they can go to, give them guidance. Because you might never know that your voice of guidance might save a life of our younger generation.
In this episode we also had our first encounter of Black Lightning (Cress Williams) and Anissa/Thunder having their first fight against each other, which for them to find out who the other is I guess it would have to be a fight at first. Lets hope they get some kind of slogan like “if you mess with the lightning you mess with the thunder” that sounds kinda corny but you never know Gambi (James Remar) might even make some kind of slogan like that. But it would be nice to have Black Lightning and Thunder work together to bring justice and peace to their world. I think they would make a great team!
Now with this episode we also had Black Lightning go into a dark place but you know, every hero has that moment where they go into that dark place. But no matter what they always have that special someone who has the greatest memories to help bring them back from those dark places, so that the hero can continue to be that light in the darkness and thats exactly what happened in this episode which I truly admire, they did it in the most greatest way ever!
