This episode was one of the great episodes! I really loved a lot of the moments of this episode. But we did find out a lot of info about the Pierce super-family today and we also got info about the super-powered kids that they are still alive! And I’m still trying to figure out who Lala (William Catlett) is suppose to be super-villain wise. Lets get to this review!
So in this episode Anissa (Nafessa Williams) found out info about the info she got from Gambi (James Remar) about how the bodies of the kids with powers are kept in containers but Anissa found out that the kids are still alive, they are being kept cryo’d for all these 30 years. Now if those kids that are now adults do wake up and use their powers in the wrong way, it would create new super-villains for Black Lightning (Cress Williams) one can always hope for something like that right?
We also saw Lala (William Catlett) talk with the spirit of his cousin that he shot down Will (Dabier) but I still can’t put my finger on what exactly Lala is suppose to be. I see he’s turning into some kind of super-villain, but what exactly is his power? The only thing that seems to be happening is when a spirit gets absorbed onto his body and becomes a tattoo he gets stronger, like super strength. I mean theres no way you can rip off someone’s ear without having super strength. But now that Will is a part of Lala by being a tattoo on his body who will be next? And why is Lala looking into ancient Egyptian gods and death.
I felt bad for Gambi (James Remar) because he got taken by the agency to be interrogated to find out who Black Lightning is. But sadly they were not even getting anywhere with the interrogation because Gambi is always faithful and loyal to the ones he calls family. I’ve always loved Gambi’s loyalty to the Pierce family, I really think that the reason why Gambi has stayed loyal to Jefferson all these years is because he felt guilty about having the agency he used to work for have a man kill Jeff’s father. Which makes sense especially since he took him in as his own son in a way.
Lynn (Christine Adams) also found out that Jennifer’s (China McClain) powers and how they are generated throughout Jennifer’s body. Apparently Jennifer’s powers are full on energy that her cells create which is different from Jefferson’s abilities. Which is interesting to have cells that create raw energy that is why they call Jennifer in the comics Lightning!
I think the best part of the episode would have to be when Jefferson comes to Gambi while hostage to the agency and the two of them rescue each other. And I’m glad that they patched things up now! Hopefully the two of them can work together again now that the agency’s inside woman is on to them! And it’s the vice principal how dare she!
