I know what your thinking by the title of this episode, it had to be confusing as hell! Well it actually wasn’t, I will admit I thought it would be confusing when they said they were bringing in the actor John Noble for an episode. Cause he is also voice acting the demonic villain, but it turned out to be the most hilarious moment of the episode. For this the episode was a fantastic one and we finally got to see the demon Mallus’s demonic form which was awesome!
So with this episode the Legends had to deal with not one but two anachronisms in this episode. Turns out Amaya (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) created an anachronism when she went back to Zambezi 1992 which is when Amaya’s village was destroyed and Marie became the rightful heir to the animal totem. However if the totem was never given to Amaya’s daughter then her granddaughter will not have any totem and the village would not of been destroyed. But if the anachronism would’ve been done then Mallus would’ve been unleashed which is terrifying. By trying to stop the anachronism Nate (Nick Zano) and Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) had to go to Zambezi to stop Amaya. Wally had to tell Amaya about how Barry (Grant Gustin) tried changing the timeline one time which was Flashpoint and it messed up the timeline to a huge extent. Wally begged Amaya not to repeat mistakes that Barry made in his own time.
With the other anachronism, Sara (Caity Lotz), Ray (Brandon Routh), Mick/ Heatwave (Dominic Purcell), and Ava (Jes Macallan) had to stop the evil Grodd (David Sobolov) from killing a very young Obama, long before he becomes our dear President of the United States. You have to admit though, I bet Obama was watching this episode tonight and loving his moments in the episode. Although I feel like if this anachronism would’ve happened, Donald Trump’s vision of presidency would’ve been discovered by the actions of President Grodd, that sounds horrible I know but it’s true. Did I just compare Donald Trump to Grodd, yes…yes I did and I enjoyed it.
When Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough) realized what he would be giving up if he allowed the anachronisms to take place, he chose to help the Legends to an extent to try to save Nora (Courtney Ford) soul. The Legends eventually give Damien the death totem, Ray the water totem, and Nate the earth totem. The Legends eventually find a way to convince Nora to a trap by trying to find a way to get Mallus’s voice recorded. When they find out that Mick is in the middle of the Lord of the Rings movies with the performance of John Noble, they go back in time to when The Return of the King was being filmed to record John Noble reading a script in his Lord of the Rings character which was just hilarious and awesome at the same time. Now I want to go back and watch Return of The King film all over again!
When Nora falls for the trap, the rest of her soul is then sacrificed for Mallus to take full possession over her. Only to be trapped in Nora’s body. The Legends take trapped Mallus to Zambezi to make the anachronism to happen and release Mallus to the earthly realm. And all it took was for Sara to either hurt or kill Damien in the wrong time era, way too go Sara! Now the legends have to band together to stop Mallus as time all around them decimates and collides together to become an endless void of nothingness. Will the Legends with the help of Jonah Hex be enough to stop Mallus, we will find out next week on the season finale!
