Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom (2018)

Okay guys and ladies, when I first saw the very first trailer for this film I was hooked to know that this film was going to rock the movie theaters and I was right. This movie literally was a fantastic addition to the Jurassic Park franchise. I promise I’m not going to spoil the film for all of you in this review, I know it’s annoying when people spoil movies with their reviews and then it makes you not want to see the movie afterwards. I will definitely not do that, it’s my job to get your interest through how I felt about this film and of my opinion of it, so thats what I’m going to do.

Alright guys so in this fifth installment in the Jurassic Park franchise the island known as Isla Nublar is pretty much uninhabitable now that a volcano is about to erupt it’s up to Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) to save the dinosaurs from the island before it erupts. Sadly things don’t go as planned or do they? Well it’s all a cover plan so that Owen would say yes to help get our new fan favorite dinosaur Blue the Velociraptor of the island for darker and crazier plans for the dinosaurs.

Honestly this has to be one of the best Jurassic movies ever! Not just because they go above and beyond to finally bring a Spielberg part 1 of a script to realization, which I will get to that in a little bit. But it’s because this Jurassic movie was able to attempt to bring some of the fans favorite dinosaurs to the film that we all have never seen in a Jurassic movie before and some that we have seen in a Jurassic movie before. Like for instance I know a lot of fans were happy and excited to see Baryonyx in the film, especially with that awesome scene where Baryonyx is slowly coming out of that pipeline on the island leading to Claire and Franklin (Justice Smith) and Franklin lets out that girly scream. The Pachycephalosaurus made a come back in the films again and had a bit of a big role in this film than in the previous Jurassic World film which was nice cause we only had a tease with the dinosaur in the first Jurassic World movie and some fans were not happy when that happened with that little tease. The Carnotaurus for those that don’t know carnotaurus is a carnivore that has horns on the side of its head; with this film the Carnotaurus never seen in a Jurassic film before actually had a lot of screen time in quite a few scenes which is interesting. Thats only a few of the dinosaurs that were shown in the film, even though I was really hoping to see one of my favorites the Dilophosaurus in the film but sadly it wasn’t in either of the Jurassic World films so far which is weird cause they never gave us an understanding with what happened to that Dilophosaurus from the first Jurassic Park film, did it escape? Did it die? Did something happen between the years that they made Jurassic World and Jurassic Park films? I guess we will never really know.

Now in this film it really did weigh off of Steven Spielberg’s original script that he had planned for the original Jurassic Park 4 film that was going to be titled as Extinction. I’m really impressed that Collin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly used the original idea of Spielberg’s script and made it as a part 1 to that story leading to the actual storyline that Spielberg started writing up for Extinction. Did Spielberg ever finish that script, no he didn’t, cause in 2009 Universal Pictures didn’t like the idea, but that was back then and now after seeing this film I think the world is ready to see that storyline of Extinction if it’s still on the tables to be played out cause I really think it would make a fantastic filmĀ  now after seeing Fallen Kingdom. Especially if they create the story as ingeniously as they did with Fallen Kingdom.

I will say that it was nice to have Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) back in the films, we never really saw anything of the character since his adventure on Jurassic Park 2: The Lost World back in 1997, since then it looks like Dr. Malcolm has become anti-government, anti-dinosaur, just about anti everything really. He especially helped the government in this film to make the decision about the dinosaurs but I am really disappointed that they cut out a line that they used in the trailers for Dr. Malcolm which was referencing to the line he used in the first Jurassic Park film which was “life finds a way” I have a feeling that they didn’t want Dr. Malcolm going on a full rant in the Fallen Kingdom film and so they probably cut out that line and scene of the film but it would’ve been nice to of heard that line again after all these years. I know after this cameo that Jeff Goldblum did in this film, a lot of fans are hoping more either fan favorites or less than fan favorites are able to make appearances in the next installment of Jurassic World which would be nice to see either Dr. Grant (Sam Neill) or someone else to make a small appearance but we will have to wait and see.

The little actress Isabella Sermon who plays Maisie in the film did a really great job and that whole twist in her part of the story was really something that I had not expected, I was just expecting for something like oh she really is such and such person grand-daughter, but instead they did a bigger twist!

I really liked though that they did bring in John Hammond’s partner in the whole cloning, which was Sir Benjamen Lockwood (James Cromwell) but why have we never heard of Lockwood until this film? Did Hammond and Lockwood get into some kind of disagreement at some point which forced Hammond to want to create the park by his own money or did Lockwood and Hammond just choose to part ways? It’s really hard to tell but you can tell in the film that Lockwood does miss Hammond a whole lot after all they were the first two who created the first cloned dinosaur in Lockwood’s estate. But again I’m glad that we were able to finally meet Hammond’s partner.

Another thing that really impressed me with this film was when we saw the footage of Owen first training the velociraptors, Blue, Echo, Delta, and Charlie and it really showed the relationship that Owen really did have with those raptors especially Blue. Blue was the first and only unique raptor that actually understood empathy and they show it too in the film. It’s impressive, but I know a lot of people are wondering what do I have to say about the new dinosaur that is created in the film?

The Indoraptor, I will say has to be one genetically modified dinosaur that I’m impressed with, cause last films Indominus Rex was just ridiculous and really didn’t make sense in the most part, while the Indoraptor which is cloned from Blue the velociraptor and Indominus to create a better more lethal creature it sure did work. The thing was more lethal and more terrifying, but nothing can compare to the original raptor, not ever. Yes I was impressed with the Indoraptor but it’s air time wasn’t all that much and I feel like it could’ve had more screen time if they would’ve planned out the film just a tad little bit more but it’s okay cause the scenes it did have were fantastic and the demonstration of strength between new model to old velociraptor was great!

For all dinosaur lovers out there, this Jurassic movie is the movie you will want to see in theaters, I guarantee that! I recommend this film to everyone!

I give this film: 5/5 stars which would give it a A+ rating
