Preacher certainly has a way of keeping the audience captivated with off the wall story-lines and surprises around every bend. No subject is untouchable, and that is why it does so well. They mean offence and are unapologetic about that fact. We get to see more ass kicking from Tulip, she is a force to be reckoned with. Not even god will escape her wrath.
Jesse (Dominic Cooper) is trapped under the iron fist of Gran’ma. If he want’s to escape with his life there is a high price to pay, although she isn’t going to let him off easy, and without Genesis he is powerless. Angelville is a dangerous place for all of them, it’s like a twisted version of Hotel of California, you can never leave. He must bide his time by doing the family’s bidding.
There are dangers around every corner, especially if you happen to be a blood sucking vampire. In Angelville they relish in the torment of making monsters pay for their “sins” with grotesque and deadly force. Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) needs to watch his step, but they are already suspicious of his ability to heal so fast. It’s only a matter of time until the truth comes out.
Tulip is on a tear of her own, but this is to be expected. She is not one to back down from a challenge, even if the odds are not in her favour. She elevates the story and brings a double dose of ass kickery to each scene. Her fearless nature will eventually get the better of her, but that is for a later time. Even the wrath of god doesn’t make her flinch. If anyone can get them out of their current predicament, Tulip can.
The long list of secrets are seeping through the cracks, it is only a matter of time before the truth surfaces. It’s been interesting to see the development of each character as the show progresses, and seeing where they come from. Jesse has existed in darkness for so long, it doesn’t take him long to fall back into his old patterns, especially when the life of his best friend is at stake. In order to save them all, he must give in.
We finally get to meet the competition, Madame Boyd (Prema Cruz), who has expected Tulip’s arrival from the start. If anyone can reverse a “Blood Contract”, it would be this mysterious woman. Walking right into the den of the enemy is a bold move, and it’s going to end in pain for whoever oppose Tulip. Nothing will stop her, we already know death can’t.
The next episode is sure to be a wild ride. Our devilish cowboy is back in action, with one hell of a chip on his shoulder. Speaking of devil’s, it seems that the prince of darkness also makes an appearance. I can’t wait to see what they do next.
