Do not alter your television sets, what you are seeing is actually happening. Maniac likes to play with tricks with the mind, allowing confusion and elation to be part of the unique viewing experience. In this world, one must question everything. The further we progress, the more pattern begins to present itself. Perhaps Owen (Jonah Hill) had it right all along.
We join Annie (Emma Stone) and Owen in their shared experience after taking Pill “B”. They find themselves filling the role of a long island married couple, who are tangled in a bizarre caper that includes a lemur and gun-toting, fur selling, animal stealing family of criminals. It’s unexpected, but oh, so entertaining.
There is so much going on, and if you look away, even for a moment, you will miss the strategically placed easter eggs. The episode doesn’t deter from this fantasy world either, it’s quite the spectacle. Although their true issues cannot stay hidden for long, there is no running from their past trauma’s.
With their intermingled affairs, it’s hard not to address the connection Annie and Owen seem to have. Even though the cause of it is from G.R.T.A’s malufunctioning, there is no questioning that something bigger is going on.
Though this series isn’t for everyone, there is something charming about the way they bring the stories to life. Everyone is struggling just to fit in to the chaos, even if they don’t want to admit it. There is something quite powerful when you feel a little less alone in the world.
The pieces of the puzzle are starting to come together, but this could be their very undoing. Onwards to more insanity driven storylines.
