Okay this episode was literally an interesting origin story that covered two whole seasons with just one episode like we all never thought it could happen it does, but I will get to that in a little bit and we have quite a lot to talk about in the review so lets get to it!
So in this episode we saw that the Grave siblings made the air inhabitable for kryptonians for who knows how long, but at least Superman is on Argo City but will they be able to tell Superman before coming back to Earth? I mean we saw the effects of it with Kara/Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and it wasn’t good. Kara had to be put under a stasis that could help but not for a very long time. So things weren’t looking too good for Kara in this episode! If it wasn’t for Jon (David Harewood) there to catch Kara, she would’ve been the next super pudding, no seriously guys her body would’ve been no more.
And we also got an idea of who Ben Lockwood/Agent Liberty (Sam Witwer) was before he became the Agent Liberty; but we also saw the kind of family that Ben was around and who started inspiring his alien hate towards the aliens. His own father, Peter Lockwood (Xander Berkeley) who was just a plain ass to everyone especially family. If anyone was an alien lover or other nationality lover they were counted as an enemy. The only ones who really saw a liking to aliens at first were Ben, his wife Lydia (Sarah Smyth) and his son. But when Ben was attacked at his father’s steel factory by an alien things started looking a little bit more grim but he tried keeping it behind him to make good for his family and for his career as a university teacher. But things just kept getting into the way with the news of his father’s steel factory being shut down by Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath) it broke the spirits of Ben just a little bit more. Ben started harassing the students that weren’t fully human which made his students disgusted by him and complained to him. By the end of the events of season 2 of the series Ben had lost his job and lost his house due to the Daxamite invasion. By the time it came to the season finale events of season 3, Ben had lost the steel factory and his father’s life. By this time Ben had snapped fully, he went drinking with his dad’s old employees and went on a crusade to become something more, something better. He even murdered an alien with a pipe, I mean that literally shows how fast he went from defending their actions to being ruthless. And then Ottis (Robert Baker) had to come along with Mercy (Rhona Mitra) and inspire Ben to rise up against the aliens when no one else would and fight against the alien act. It was then that Ben left everyone behind and became an agent of liberty. Literally this episode took us all the way back to Season 2 and wrapped everything in Ben’s life from Season 2 to Season 4 in a tight and easy going little bow. It was the beginning of the episode that Ben truly became Agent Liberty.
Now that you know about Agent Liberty’s past, how does that make you feel? I’ll tell you how it makes me feel, kinda sorry for the guy, like he lost his job due to those aliens and alien supporters complaining about him to the dean of the university sure it was because of his own doings and could’ve went a little more easier way of doing things but he didn’t and it makes you feel bad for him. Like it’s because of the events of last season that he lost his father in the steel factory that he loved so much. Everything came rocking down on his world so much! But if you were in Ben’s shoes what would you have done? Would you have done the exact same things as what Ben did? Or Would you have done things differently? Feel free to comment your answers!
Anyway, in this episode we did get the first look at what seems to be possibly Supergirl’s forever suit to use on Earth or at least until they can contain the kryptonite in the air and it seems like its going to be a very long time. So with this now being a factor what will be her excuse when she’s not there for Nia (Nicole Maines) because I feel like this will become an issue, maybe Nia will go to James (Mehcad Brooks) if she has an issue again and talk to him about it. I mean it did work last time when Kara wasn’t there to help. So maybe they will do that, but we will have to wait and see! I’m really curious to see this new suit in action, one because it’s a space suit, I mean you have to wonder if people will question about the new suit and it’s different style to it. But we will have to wait and see about that too!
