Okay guys and gals, we had another fantastic episode that was given to us and now with 8 episodes left, one has to wonder will this series get renewed? Will we get more of this amazing apocalyptic world brought to us in the future to come? It’s hard to say, it all depends on us the fans and these reviews giving credit and love to everyone that comes into the crew of this amazing series! Lets get to the review!
So in this episode we finally met Barry The Burier (Michael Jonsson) and I gotta say I was really excited and pumped to see this character in action and to get to know his character a bit in this episode. And when he came in swinging, I knew by the letter of the B on his mask that it was him; and I have to say that he looks like he’s going to become a very reliable ally towards Vanessa (Kelly Overton) and Scarlett (Missy Peregrym) and I kinda hope that his character does live in this series. When you look at Barry, when he takes off the mask he looks like a very nice and awesome guy whose rocking an awesome apocalyptic beard, then when he puts on that mask it’s like he channels his inner superhero/vigilante side to kick vampire ass. And that is just awesome, I’m looking forward to seeing more of his character in action in future episodes!
In the episode we also saw Doc/Sarah (Rukiya Bernard), Jolene (Caroline Cave), Julius (Aleks Paunovic), and Phil/Flesh (Vincent Gale) all come to the civilization known as Denver. But how long will Denver stay safe? That is the true question, but we hope that our side heroes all stay safe and go by the rules and get jobs and live like civilized people. Now we didn’t get a whole lot of sense as to who Jolene was back in season 2 other than being a woman who did what she had to do in order to survive out there in the crazy wild civilizations of the apocalypse. But one thing has always been clear when it comes down to Jolene, she is a woman who has major feelings for Doc, and she made that very clear in this episode which I was really happy about. You know how in some relationships they always make one of those special mash ups of the names to support the relationship, I feel like theirs would be either Saralene or Jolarah, but I like Saralene more better though, let me know either in the comments or anywhere in what you guys think. But I have a good feeling about that relationship, and I don’t ship a lot of these TV relationships all that much really! But I think everyone was really surprised by Doc/Sarah saying that she’s a virgin!
Now I don’t know about you guys, but I have a feeling that when Julius had asked Frankie (Kendall Cross) about a job that either she’s going to give our lovable Julius a job as a bartender or as a bouncer kind of position. Which if it’s a bouncer position, I can see Julius being that way but he probably would have to be careful at the same time because you don’t want to make enemies in a community like Denver, they might do bad things to you. But I think Julius will be able to take care of himself with whatever job he ends up getting. But I think we all would like some more Julius scenes happen eventually, because he’s one of those character’s that there’s more to him than meets the eye.
Here’s one thing that I’m also wondering; we saw Jolene pick up her job as being a nurse and being partnered up with nurse Jared (Aidan Khan) which I most times I don’t judge, but Jared looked like one of those guys that can be really creepy if you make him mad or disappointed. I mean I could be wrong but he did have kind of a creepy vibe towards him when he was introducing himself to Jolene in the episode. We of course saw Doc/Sarah get her lab, which was a really nice lab! We saw Julius working on getting a job at that bar; but what about Phil/Flesh? I wonder what his job is going to be in this community? Because in the flashbacks back in Season 1 when they showed Phil’s life it seemed like he had a boring job before the world went to hell. Will he even be able to find a job in the community? But one has to wonder as well, will Phil/Flesh forgive Julius? Because if you think about it Julius is trying so hard to make amends to what he did when he was his vampire self, he even made friends with Doc and with Vanessa. I mean you think that Phil would want to move past what had happened in the past; but at the same time I also kinda understand why he can’t, because back in Season 1 when we saw Phil/Flesh’s background story we saw that Julius turned him into a vampire and Phil killed his wife and child. And now that Phil has lost his second chance at a happy life with Lucky, it’s like all he can see through his eyes is hate and anger. Hopefully he can forgive Julius at least one of these days but we will have to wait and see!
We also saw Axel (Jonathan Scarfe) with his new soldiers that him, Vanessa, and Scarlett came across, go on a patrol of sorts to scout out the land for the rest of the soldiers. Only to find them to be taken by The B`ah (Jennifer Spence) and killed by that elder as well. But what will become of fan favorite Axel? Will he get killed by that elder? Or will he be used to lure Vanessa into it’s lair? All what I know is if Vanessa and Scarlett would have just stayed together with Axel and the new soldiers, we would’ve had that badass elder fight scene in this episode; most likely. But it’s okay, because we will get that badass scene one way or another!
I hope that this series does get renewed for Season 4 because we need more Van Helsing in our lives and I now that a lot of the fans are not ready to say goodbye to the series yet, I know I’m not! I want to see more, and I hope Syfy does renew this series!
