Alright guys and gals we had another great episode brought to us tonight and it was really good! I think we all have questions after seeing this episode, but we saw a new Elder this episode and it was a special guest star on this episode! We only have five episodes left of the season, so lets get to this review!
So in this episode we saw the adventures of Vanessa (Kelly Overton) and Scarlett (Missy Peregrym) venturing on their way to see the next Elder, while on their way they were trying to figure out more about their family book by deciphering the book but for the most part they couldn’t decipher anything. When the sisters had a couple of vampires attack them at their camp they spilled the blood of the vampires which splattered on the book and revealed more secrets. Apparently that book of theirs must have some pages that are only revealed through blood which is very interesting. The sisters went into a lighthouse which even in an apocalyptic world lighthouses still look so beautiful; there’s just something about a lighthouse that makes it look beautiful and haunting at the same time.
When the sisters found that a hidden door is near the beach line, they go to investigate it; when they unlock the door they meet the third Elder, a vampire known as Jacob Van Helsing (Michael Eklund) which is interesting in itself; because a Van Helsing went to the dark and creepy side, but he did have some interesting details about what’s to come, wither it’s true or not it’s hard to tell from the way how he was acting all creepy and weird. But I suppose if anyone would be there in a crypt for hundreds of years I guess anyone’s mind would go a little batty!
Now as I said earlier we had Michael Eklund on tonight’s episode with an amazing performance. Now I’ve been a fan of Michael Eklund ever since Smallville and Alcatraz television series’s which every performance he has given has been a fantastic performance! He is one talented guy and the performance as Jacob Van Helsing tonight was a fantastic performance and he sure did give off a great creepy vibe with the character. I like how he always devotes himself to become the certain character that he has to play and give off a performance that no one will ever forget! After tonight I don’t think we will ever be forgetting his performance, he did a great job and I sure hope everyone thinks the same.
We also got another great performance by Kelly Overton who plays Vanessa; I mean the way how she took down Jacob by luring him in to take a bite out of her and then for her to rip him to shreds right in front of Scarlett, I mean that is literally some major guts spilling and gore right there and I loved it! Vanessa has been going through a lot this season though, I mean sure she left Scarlett behind even after all what was said but I think it’s because Vanessa doesn’t truly trust herself and she doesn’t want to risk going to the darkness with Scarlett at her side and doing something that she’s going to regret. I mean I understand that, because Vanessa doesn’t want another Dylan situation to happen again, where she loses the only one she loves again you know. Was it fair to Scarlett; no but when is anything fair? But now poor Scarlett has to be left all alone on that island while Vanessa goes to face against the fourth Elder!
Now after what we all learned from Jacob, that one Van Helsing is meant to die so the other can face the dark one alone, one has to wonder will that fate happen this time around? Or will Vanessa and Scarlett find some kind of way to not let the other die and they both face off against the Dark One? I guess we will have to wait and find out! But if one does have to die, a lot of people believe that Scarlett might be the one to die; but Jacob did try pulling Scarlett away from Vanessa to try to make her see herself as the strong one, but who really is the strong one in the family this time around? My money is on Vanessa, but we shall see!
Also might we all agree that Jonathan Scarfe did another great job directing an episode and it’s going to be an episode that we all will remember, the location that was filmed at was a fantastic location. It fit really well with the episodes setting and it allowed for Michael Eklund to give his creepy performance at a location that can be titled beautiful and haunting! I give a standing ovation to the man behind the camera directing the whole episode!
