Okay guys and gals, we have a wonderful film that we are reviewing for all of you today and it really is wonderful! Not only did we get a sequel to one of the successful animation movies back in 2012, but we also got some actresses back to play the roles they played in their younger years for Disney animation films; it truly was a treat to be able to watch this film in all of it’s awe and be able to review it for all of you today is a privilege that I hope I do good on! So lets get to this review!
Alright first off, if none of you have ever seen the first Wreck It Ralph movie that was released back in 2012, then what are you waiting for? Go watch that movie first and then go to a theater near you and watch it’s sequel! For real though you all need to see the first movie and then the sequel otherwise you will be lost in what is going on. For those of you who have watched the first film and then went to go watch the sequel, congratulations on the achievement! But now that’s out of the way I can now talk about the film itself!
So the film, I will say had the exact same feel as the first film, only we knew the character’s this time around and we had a pretty good feel about who they are, like for instance Ralph (John C. Reilly) we know he’s the main character of this movie franchise, we know that whatever happens he’s either going to go wrecking things up or try fixing them and ruin more things along the way. And we all know his little sidekick Vanellope (Sarah Silverman) the famous Sugar Rush racer who knows that she’s a racer, and will always be one and will always be the one who makes the smart puns that we all will laugh at. After all these two are literally the best duo of the new generation of animation; without these two I don’t think the movie franchise would’ve been able to do so well but I could be wrong!
So the film takes place six years after the events that happened in Wreck it Ralph film, which fits really well with how long we all had to wait for this film to be made. After all those who saw the first film had gotten confirmation way back in early 2013 that the sequel had been green lit and we would be getting it around 2017 however it never came at that time and people had wondered if it was ever going to be made, when people saw the trailer magically appear online, like how I did, later in 2018 we all had hope once again that the sequel would be as good as the first film and I have to say it’s as good but also better in some ways but I’ll get to those ways in a little bit. One thing I like is that they didn’t stick with the first idea they had for the sequel, because lets be honest Mario would never need saving and plus with those animation Mario movies coming out soon I think it might’ve even made some lawsuits happen so lets be glad that idea never got launched. Instead we got a story where Vanelope needed Ralph’s help big time in order to save her game Sugar Rush from being extinct.
Now in this film we didn’t just get our old video game character’s back, we also had some familiar faces brought to the big screen with this film such as, Sonic the Hedgehog (Roger Craig Smith) which is a huge, huge grab because Sonic isn’t Nintendo and as we all know Disney bought out half of Nintendo video game products back in 2010 which is why they were able to bring those characters they had bought into the film. They also bought out some other video game rights but never did they buy out Sega, which is why when I saw Sonic in the film, I was shocked! Sure they couldn’t use Sonic in so many scenes because Disney didn’t own the rights to Sonic and needed Sega’s permission big time to be able to use him in those two scenes that he was in. We also got a special little cameo of Stan Lee, yes we all know that Stan Lee had died but to have a pixel internet version of him on the film was so worth it and did it in a classy way too. We got Iron Man, which isn’t a big surprise because Disney owns Marvel’s characters. We had cameos by Baymax, R2-D2, Baby Groot (Vin Diesel), Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen) and many others.
Which brings me to the next point, because of this being a Disney film we knew that some way Disney would make sure their princess’s would make an entrance especially since the film was happening mostly on the internet. We got all of the Disney princess’s we got, Pocohontas (Irene Bedard), Mulan (Ming-Na Wen), Anna (Kristen Bell), Elsa (Idina Menzel), Ariel (Jodi Benson), Cinderella (Jennifer Hale), Aurora (Kate Higgins), Jasmine (Linda Larkin), Moana (Auli`i Cravalho), Snow White (Pamela Ribon), Belle (Paige O’Hara), Rapunzel (Mandy Moore), Tiana (Anika Nani Rose), and Merida (Kelly Macdonald). Now some of you might remember their names of the roles they played of these characters so long ago, such as Ming-Na Wen when she was much younger she played the role of Mulan and we all never forgot that either. She played the role so well and we all could recognize her voice from it too even when she played on live action movies and tv shows. Or Irene Bedard who in her younger years played Pocohontas and did the role so well too, I still love how she played the role back then in the film and in this film I still love how she was able to get back into character after being away from it for so long and play the character like she never left it all those years ago.
I also really liked Gal Gadot’s character Shank in this film, yes the character looks like a bad ass and really is. But she plays the character so well and gives the character a true voice, especially in this film, her character got so much face time that every moment was worth watching, she definitely did a fantastic job voicing the character and I hope if they do another film that she returns to voice the character again.
Also be sure to stick around to watch the end credits scenes, yes I said scenes! There are two and both of them are hilarious, the whole film is definitely hilarious and fantastic and I recommend this film to all of you!
Ralph Breaks the Internet is now out in theaters!
