Death and Nightingales premieres

Set in County Fermanagh before the partition of Ireland, it tells the story of a young woman who is torn between her Protestant stepfather and her Catholic lover.

The day she turns 23, Beth Winters decides to join the charming Liam Ward and escape from her limited life and difficult and complex relationship with her protestant landowner stepfather Billy.

It is a riveting story of love, betrayal, deception and revenge, set in the beautiful haunting countryside of Fermanagh in 1885 when all of the country is an undivided province of the British Empire.

Watch it on BBC Two.
