Supergirl (S04E08) “Bunker Hill”

Guys and gals we had a phenomenal episode brought to us tonight by the hands of our lovable Kevin Smith! We have quite a bit of questions after this episode, especially with that last post credit scene that we will talk about in a little bit! But first lets get to this review!

So for everyone who may or may not know, this episode was directed by the great Kevin Smith! Yes the guy whose directed three episodes of The Flash, and I this is his fourth episode of directing for Supergirl series! Which is huge, Mr. Smith is no stranger to our Arrowverse universe people, and with every episode that he’s directed I’ve titled them as the best episodes of the season because it’s true. Every episode Kevin Smith has directed has been a phenomenal episode in the seasons run! Every fan of Kevin Smith would agree with me that his episodes are the episodes that kick ass!

In this episode we got a more understanding look at Nia Nal (Nicole Maine) and what her abilities are capable of which is good because we all have been wondering when would we see Nia’s powers in an episode and would we hear her origin of where she came from. Luckily from our great Kevin Smith, we not only got Nia’s abilities being shown to us but we also got word about her home planet Naltor and how her and her family had to leave the planet! Nia became a big part of this episode and I’m really happy about that. In fact it was because of Nia having a “nightmare” but what I call premonition about what was going to happen very soon in the future. I mean when someone can’t sleep and literally comes to work with three cups of coffee, thats when you know that person needs help or is hiding something. But thanks to Kara/Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and her way of keeping secrets, Nia was able to trust her and Brainy (Jesse Rath) in her ability but Brainy has known about Nia and her daughter Nura all this time thanks to the 30th Century which made it really hard for Brainy to be around Nia in this episode.

Even though Kara and Alex (Chyler Leigh) got evidence that Ben Lockwood/Agent Liberty (Sam Witwer) is Agent Liberty and got on his trail which almost became the death of his wife Lydia Lockwood (Sarah Smyth) but because Kara was there, no one died, and Ben was imprisoned! But how long will Ben Lockwood stay in prison, from the way how he was talking it doesn’t sound like it’s going to be for a very long time. Especially since now Ben has turned the media and everyones eye on Supergirl, to find out who she is! Even though we the audience know who Supergirl is, everyone in National City doesn’t know who Supergirl is. Which comes to my next thing to talk about, does this mean that Supergirl is becoming an enemy of the state? Will this lead to major changes to the series? In a way Supergirl did the right thing by not telling President Baker (Bruce Boxleitner) about her secret identity because if everyone in the DEO knows, whats to say they wont tell an enemy of Supergirl if shes kidnapped one day or something you know. But because of this it’s like Supergirl has now become an enemy of the government which doesn’t seem to be so good, but what if it’s because of this that the government chooses to create a Superwoman of their own? Will we be seeing a Superwoman appearance happen soon in the series? Only time will tell!

Now lets talk about that post credit scene which is a scene to introduce to us to the Elseworlds crossover happening next week! Now in this scene we were taken back to the world of the 1990’s Flash (John Weseley Shipp) which in this world we see ash, and the helmets of superheroes and things that symbolized as superheroes such as Green Lantern, Batman, Superman, Dr. Fate, I think we even saw a small glimpse of either Hawkman or Hawkgirl’s mask, but its easy to say that the whole Justice League in that Flash’s world is dead all because of The Monitor (LaMonica Garrett) and his quest to rewrite history not just in that world but in all worlds! Now that explains a lot especially with what’s been happening in the promos of Elseworlds crossover that we’ve seen! But will it happen to the other Earths? Or will Supergirl, Flash, Green Arrow and Batwoman be able to stop it? Find out next week!
