Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation – a Forced Disappointment
Maybe it was a bad night. Maybe the hype was too much. Maybe it had high expectations. One thing for sure, the 3rd installment wasn’t up to standards.
The Vampire family, go on vacation on a cruise ship to only face Dracula’s enemy whose family has been fighting him for generations.
Here are reasons why the movie didn’t live up to standards: [Some Spoilers}
1. Plot – literally every love-story movie in Hollywood
The plot in the movie follows the very typical good guy vs bad guy with a love story. With Dracula left not having a loved one, this film focused on his love life and thus touched on his story.
What better way than having your worst enemy’s grand-daughter be who you ‘zing’ with?
She starts out from trying to kill Dracula to turning on her grandfather because she likes Dracula. I mean, comparing to the previous movies, this just went downhill.
This movie felt more of a music movie than a comedy. Every movie has expectations on them after successful installments, while it is understandable that it is hard to live up to the standards, this movie was a complete let-down.
I barely remember laughing as much as I did with the previous installments, it seemed like a movie you watch when you are checking twitter, emails etc.
We all know these movies have happy ending, but sometimes it is just too obvious. While everyone has their own preference of a happy ending, this movie simply didn’t deliver with the sparks. The rivalry was poor, it felt more of a romantic animated movie (and still not be good) than a comedy, and it seemed like another money making movie being displayed to the audience.
