Alright guys and gals, we had another great episode brought to us tonight! We saw things not looking good for a certain character, we saw friendships bonding a little more and we saw two character deaths happen in tonight’s episode so lets get to the review!
So in this episode we saw that Khalil (Jordan Calloway) in a really tough situation, after Tobais (Marvin Jones III) ripped out his part of the spine that was helping him walk the first time around that now he’s in the hospital fighting for his life and it’s a losing battle. Khalil was so badly injured that he can not even lay down correctly, he is forced to lay down on his stomach because that’s the only way the doctors at the hospital know how to keep him comfortable. The poor guy can’t do anything by himself anymore and he’s only going to get worse. It’s bad that he’s having to be in that hospital bed but to have to go through an agonizing way of suffering and pain to just die it’s something no one should have to go through.
With everything that is going on it forces Jennifer (China McClain) to go into a bit of a over drive with her powers after she used them to zap a racists car. Don’t judge me that woman was calling the cops on Jennifer because she thought that she was going to steal her car when she was feet away from the car, literally this series shows people how hard it can be to live in a world where they are judged way too many times by the color of their skin and it shouldn’t be that way. After Jennifer gets in control of her powers, or at least for now; she reveals to her mother Lynn (Christine Adams) that she is able to see through the life forces of human beings. Like the electro-lites that make up a person and help the nerves and all to continuously move throughout the body. Which is interesting because I don’t think they really went into detail fully that is with Jennifer’s powers, so to go through them in more depth is really interesting.
A part of me thinks that it’s because of Khalil’s death, that it will some how fuel Jennifer to become the hero that she is meant to be. And maybe she will even start doing things the hero way with her father and sister to help Freeland become a better city in Khalil’s memory. Especially since Khalil didn’t make it in this episode he’s one of the deaths that happened in this episode which I could kinda see it happening but at the same time I didn’t want him to die. I was kinda hoping for that happy ending with Jennifer and Khalil but we all know that superheroes hardly ever get the happy ending that they deserve.
I was really happy to see Grace (Chantal Thuy) in this episode, especially since she was there as support to Anissa (Nafessa Williams) to help Anissa through this difficult time. And that’s what I like, I like seeing Grace starting to want to commit to being there for Anissa when she needs her and being there in general because I love seeing Anissa and Grace together they deserve each other. It’s always good to see those two share the screen together and I hope we get to see more screen time with these two in more episodes!
