Arrow (S07E19) “Spartan”

Alright guys and gals we had another great episode brought to us tonight, Diggle get’s some Step-Father and step son time in with his step father The General, Oliver tries bringing Emiko from the dark side, The Ninth Circle snatches Felicity’s Archer program, we have quite a lot to talk about so lets get to this review!

So in this episode Team Arrow tries stopping a exchange of information that was being sold to people of The Ninth Circle, by an Argus agent, when the team tries stopping the exchange they get the information but it forces Oliver (Stephen Amell) and John Diggle (David Ramsey) to take a visit to someone that Diggle was hoping to not ever visit again but because the information actually belongs to this such person they had to visit him. The General (Ernie Hudson) whose information about how they were going up against The Ninth Circle, was appreciative of Oliver to getting the hard drive back and also approved of his ways as The Green Arrow so looks like Diggle isn’t the only fan of Green Arrow now in these days. When Diggle tries getting information from The General about what they have on The Ninth Circle, The General had to classify all information they had on the organization. Only because The General aka Diggle’s step father doesn’t approve of what he is doing with his skills after leaving Argus and leaving the military.

We also got information about why Diggle hates his step father so much, according to what Diggle was told, The General was the CO (Commanding Officer) of his father platoon in a mission that they had a long time ago. When things went wrong Diggle’s father stayed behind while everyone else got away clean, but even Oliver had a hard time believing that actually happened but did give Diggle the sympathy that he needed at that time. However it turned out that the whole story that Diggle was told by his step father in his earlier years of life which forced him to hate his step father forever was false and Oliver helped Diggle find out the truth. Revealing that Diggle’s father had actually been the one who lost it, he took himself and two other Marines down with him before they could put him down. Which the truth was a real horrible truth but at least he now knows.

The Ninth Circle went and snatched Felicity’s (Emily Bett Rickards) program known as Archer; and because Ninth Circle was going to use Archer program to break into every special security system. Because Felicity couldn’t allow her program to be thrown into the wrong hands again she chose to create a self destruct system to make sure that they program can never be used again. But things seem to not be fully gone because Alena (Kacey Rohl) made a copy of the main code that made Archer, the program. But Felicity even said she doesn’t want her program to be remade, nor remodeled like how Alena had suggested. But in the flash forward scenes we see that Felicity found out what her old program Archer is being used for in the future for Galaxy organization which makes us wonder did Alena remake and remodel Archer program to be used as a weapon to be able to find weak spots of the opponent and find ways to kill them with Archer as long as you wear the helmet? It seems like a maybe but the one who brought Archer back to life in the flash forwards hasn’t been revealed yet but I feel like it could be Alena but we shall see. It will be interesting to see if Alena really did become full villain in the flash forwards.

Also in the flash forwards we find out that Connor Hawke (Joseph David-Jones) is in fact the second son of John Diggle; I always thought that he was really John Jr this whole time but it turns out that it’s not true. That John Jr. in the flash forwards is in league with the Deathstrokes a group of misfits who took up the old arts of Deathstroke/Slade Wilson to keep his Deathstroke legacy alive in the future. Which makes me believe that in this future none of Slade’s son’s are alive which is interesting given that we saw how one future turned out when his son’s were alive. But why does John Jr. or JJ for short hate Connor so much? That part isn’t exactly clear but I guess we will find out sooner or later given that the season is coming closer and closer to a close.

It’s good though that Diggle and The General managed to get things cleared up and are able to hopefully have a healthy step father and step son relationship. I hope we can get more of The General in future episodes maybe even for one episode of Season 8 it would be awesome to see Ernie Hudson on the series before it ends for good for us! But I guess we will see!

We also saw that Emiko (Sea Shimooka) and Oliver had another showdown and it seems that the Ninth Circle wants Oliver to be permanently killed and Emiko agrees but not before she ends up killing Dante (Adrian Paul) the man who killed her mother because her mother was making her weak and he needed Emiko at her best to be the greatest leader for The Ninth Circle. So what is next for Emiko? Now that Dante is dead, will Emiko and Oliver have a final showdown maybe in the season finale? Only way to find out is to keep watching!
