This episode of Krypton was truly a blast to watch!
First, let’s talk about Lobo (Emmett J. Scanlan). I am starting to love this character after getting to know him better in this episode and seeing his personality. The way he interacted with Seg (Cameron Cuffe) and Adam (Shaun Sipos)—threatened, flirted, then threatened again—was really one of the highlights of the episode. It adds a bit of humor to the darker, more serious situations in Kandor.
Also, there was one reveal that I kind of saw coming in this episode—Brainiac (Blake Ritson) isn’t dead. It did seem too easy when Seg “killed” him, right? Subtle hints were dropped throughout the episode leading to the fact that Brainiac has entered Seg and will eventually take full control of his body! This leads to Seg staying in Colu as he didn’t want to bring Brainiac back to Krypton. I sincerely cannot wait to see a face-off between Brainiac-controlled Seg and Lobo.
What is going on with Lyta?
Back in Kandor, we see Lyta (Georgina Campbell) troubled. She’s having difficulty in coping with what she has lost—mainly Seg. She asked to be assigned to Wegthor to train the poorly-skilled Sagitari, however, Zod (Colin Salmon) refused and gave her responsibility for Cor-Vex instead. This is probably not a wise decision seeing that afterward, Lyta beat up a Sagitari who reminded her of Seg and made a move on her.
I’m curious to discover more on what’s going on in Lyta’s mind. Has she been brainwashed or does she truly believe in what Zod is doing? I really hope she’s going to change once she meets her mother again.
Enter: Jayna and Dev
I enjoyed watching Jayna (Ann Ogbomo) trying to escape the frozen wasteland which was also sort of a self-healing journey as she decided to break the cycle of violence in her family starting by reconciliation with Lyta. Also, Dev (Aaron Pierre) is alive and helped save Jayna from some Sagitari who were definitely no match for them! Can’t wait to see more of this duo.
Meanwhile, in the resistance, Jax (Hannah Waddingham) and Val (Ian McElhinney) are now in Wegthor leading their people firsthand. Nyssa soon arrives telling them that Zod has Cor-Vex and used him as blackmail to get Nyssa to spy on them. I knew that this was too good to be true, as it turns out, Nyssa is trying to get Jax and Val to trust her again under Zod’s command.
Overall, this was an enjoyable episode and I’m looking forward to some more action in the next episodes.
