Krypton Season 2 continues to serve action-packed scenes in this latest episode!
In Wegthor, the rebels have lost 50% of their troops after being suffocated by the tainted oxygenator. After capturing the smaller team of rebels, Lyta (Georgina Campbell) decides to let them all go with instructions to send a message to Val (Ian McElhinney) and Jax (Hannah Waddingham), asking for a meeting to end this conflict. However, she detains Kem (Rasmus Hardiker) and Adam (Shaun Sipos) as insurance.
Lyta gets captured by Jax and Val during their meeting and is brought to the base of the rebels. Jax demands Zod (Colin Salmon) to command his forces to return to Kandor and leave Wegthor, threatening to kill Lyta if he doesn’t oblige. Meanwhile, Nyssa (Wallis Day) heads back to Kandor with the Codex in order to save Cor-Vex; however, not before releasing Kem and Adam from the Sagitari base where they were being detained.
In Kandor, Seg (Cameron Cuffe) decides to go after Zod and force him to fix Lyta by telling her that she has been reconditioned. When Zod gains the upper hand and strikes Seg down, Brainiac (Blake Ritson) appeared telling Seg that a small part of him is still inside Seg. Eventually, Seg is saved by Dev (Aaron Pierre) and Jayna (Ann Ogbomo) who arrive at the perfect moment as Zod was strangling Seg. Brainiac helps Seg by telling him where and when to shoot incoming Sagitari which amazes Jayna and Dev.
At the end of the episode, it is revealed that Zod lied and tried to trick Jax. Thus, Jax broadcasts a speech exposing Zod which ends with the killing of Lyta.
In this episode, conflict continues to escalate and the risks are getting high. First of all, Jax has gone full-on ruthless in this episode. I was starting to like her, but this episode certainly made me dislike her. Although, it is understandable why she would do those things. She lost half of her troops, and she knows that she is losing. She’s already lost too much and she’s desperate. That’s enough to make anyone do the wrong things. However, I have to say that Hannah Waddingham does an amazing job in portraying Jax.
Next, I’m curious to see what will happen to Seg and Brainiac since they are still intertwined together. Right now, Brainiac is helping Seg to survive, which will allow him to also survive. But for how long? Will Lobo (Emmett J. Scanlan) return to kill what’s rest of Brainiac? I loved watching the scene where Seg shoots a bunch of Sagitari flawlessly which amazed Dev and Jayna. I hope to see more scenes like this one.
The ending of this episode left me surprised and in-denial. Is Lyta really dead? Did Jax really slit her throat just like that? I sincerely hope that it was an illusion because if not, Jax-Ur will have a lot more enemies gunning for her. I doubt that Seg and Jayna are going to let her off the hook that easily.
