Krypton comes back full of action in this second-to-last episode! A lot of things happened in this roller coaster of an episode, so let’s start.
First of all, let’s talk about Nyssa (Wallis Day) and Seg (Cameron Cuffe). In my previous post, I’ve mentioned that Nyssa might be jealous that Lyta (Georgina Campbell) is back with Seg. This was confirmed in this episode as Nyssa professes her love to Seg. She understands that Lyta is the love of Seg’s life, however, she is scared that Seg might be the love of hers. Will we explore more of this in the future?
In this episode, Lyta and Jayna (Ann Ogbomo) finally have their long overdue quality time together. They talked and Lyta asked for forgiveness for shooting Jayna and choosing Zod (Colin Salmon)—to which Jayna replied that there is nothing to forgive. It was indeed a heartwarming scene between the mother and daughter which clearly shows how much their relationship has evolved.
Now onto the main attraction..
This episode of Krypton featured a battle which was extremely epic. Zod unleashes Doomsday to Wegthor to destroy every single rebel there. We see many of the rebels fall which lead to the evacuation of the remaining survivors. They had a good plan to blow up the caves to trap Doomsday while they all escape, however, complications happened which resulted in major problems.
Doomsday’s attacks on the cave resulted in them not being able to remotely detonate the bombs. Thus, someone had to stay behind and trigger the bombs. Seg was going to be the one to do it, however, Kem (Rasmus Hardiker) beat him to it and sacrificed himself. Also, Adam (Shaun Sipos) got trampled by a bunch of rocks as the cave ceiling fell while he was trying to save Val (Ian McElhinney). Luckily, he survived, but he couldn’t feel his legs.
Meanwhile, Nyssa lead an attack to obtain a Sagitari ship which transported Doomsday to Wegthor. She fought amazingly and I loved the visuals of this battle sequence. The slow motions, and zoom-ins focusing on Nyssa were well done.
After the caves exploded along with the stellarium in them, the entire moon was on the verge of blowing up. Thankfully all of them made it out of Wegthor alive. However, Seg had to take his skimmer as he was left behind and couldn’t make it out on time to catch up with the others. The episode ended with Wegthor blowing up into pieces.
This was an extremely good episode, and I cannot wait to see the season finale to find out how this season concludes.
