Krypton never ceases to amaze me. When I thought that it couldn’t get more action packed, I was proven wrong by this season finale. A lot of things happened which I’m eager to discuss.
First, let’s talk about Nyssa (Wallis Day). Adam (Shaun Sipos) told Nyssa about the Zeta-Beam and how he got it. Turns out, he stole the Zeta-Beam from a scientist in the planet Rann and modified it himself so that it could be used for time travel. Eventually, Nyssa snatched the Zeta-Beam from Adam and used it to hopefully find Jor-El. Later in the episode, we see her arriving in a place where there were burnt bodies. On a rock, there was an Omega symbol painted in what seems like blood. As she looks up to the sky, she saw a group of flying men. I’m very excited to see where this would lead in the next season (if they get picked up for another season, of course.)
Throughout this season, we see Jayna (Ann Ogbomo) and Dev (Aaron Pierre) become closer. At some point, I wondered whether they would fall in love romantically. In this episode, they shared a kiss which kind of surprised me but I also saw it coming. Honestly, I don’t know how I feel about them being together since I’ve always seen them as more of a “mother/son” duo. Speaking of Jayna and Dev, they also found frozen Doomsday! Doomsday survived the blast of Wegthor, and landed in the Outlands, frozen in ice.
Lyta (Georgina Campbell), Jayna and Dev were almost going to attack Kandor themselves when they thought that no one survived Wegthor. Thankfully, Seg (Cameron Cuffe) and the resistance arrived just in time to join them. Seg and Lyta go to Kandor to confront Zod (Colin Salmon) in front of some Kandorians. The Sagitari eventually withdraws their support for Zod after hearing Lyta and Seg’s speeches. I liked seeing the fight that happened afterwards between Zod, Seg and Lyta. Seg almost killed Zod but he listened to Lyta and stopped. They decided to put Zod under the Black Mercy. I guess this was a good solution, however, it is still risky. This could mean that this is not the last time we will see General Zod.
Towards the end of the episode, we see Adam get a suit from Val (Ian McElhinney) which helps him to walk and also has a jetpack. While they were partying, Lobo (Emmett J. Scanlan) showed up and offered Seg a proposition to help him find Brainiac (Blake Ritson). Seg agreed with the condition that Lobo helps him retrieve Jor-El.
This season finishes with a somewhat happy and satisfying ending, which also teases the things that would come in the next season. Unfortunately, Krypton has been cancelled by Syfy. However, the show is reportedly being shopped around to other platforms. I really hope that Krypton gets renewed for a third season because this is one of the best shows that I have ever watched.
