Supergirl(S05E01) “Event Horizon”

Welcome Back my readers it has been a wait but no more, we finally have the new season of Supergirl here for all of us to watch! And I have to say it’s an honor to return to write about these awesome episodes in these reviews! So let’s get to this review!

So as we can see it’s been at least a month since Kara/Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) defeated the evil Lex Luthor! And we knew because of Lex revealing to poor Lena (Katie McGrath) that Kara is Supergirl that it would lead to some kind of super scheme to destroy her. And sure enough we saw a little bit of a scheme that was going to blow up in Kara’s face to bring her down in a way but I don’t think Lena ever expected Kara to open up about the truth herself which lead to a little set back in the schemes but not a big one. In time throughout the season we will be seeing the big scheme come to play we just have to be patient.

Now I would have to say it was surprising and amazing to see Jennifer Cheon Garcia on the first episode as the villainous Midnight! Her performance as the villain was top notch and I absolutely love seeing her on any show she works on wither it be Van Helsing or Supergirl I’ll be watching and reviewing because she’s awesome. At least they left it open for a possible return for her character maybe in the near future of the season. Did Midnight get sent back to the phantom zone? Yes but it doesn’t mean she’ll stay there, it just means she just won’t be seen on the show for a little while or does it? She could pop back in on any episode, we’ll have to just keep watching to find out!

Now I have to admit having this new boss for Catco is a bold move but is also one that might come to be difficult if they keep with the characters comic background, Andrea Rojas (Julie Gonzalo) in the comics Rojas was able to shift in the shadows meta human wise and be a businesswoman at the same time but we will have to wait and see what they choose to do.

I also understand this is Mehcad Brooks last season to be on the show and if we do lose our Jimmy Olsen I hope they find a good way to end his character if they do choose to kill him off that is they might just have him leave for some kind of far away mission or something and he just won’t be able to be in contact. However they might end the Olsen character I’m sure it will be good but at least we will have the sister on the show.

And we met one of the big bad of the season Malefic J’onzz (Phil LaMarr) who is the brother of Jon J’onzz (David Harewood) in the comics Malefic was sent to a prison for his crimes of what he tried doing to Mars and vowed one day he would take revenge on his whole family for locking him away. But that day never came until now and it seems like in the series they might be doing a similar story which is cool. But it’s interesting to see that Jon doesn’t remember Malefic so something must’ve happened in Jon’s past to make him forget his brother all together but I guess we will find out soon enough!
