Well my readers the wait is over welcome back to a new season of The Flash! It’s been a long wait or at least it’s felt like a long wait, so we had a lot that happened in this first episode and it seems like Earth-1 is not wasting time to amp everyone’s anticipation for this years crossover, so let’s get to this review!
So in this episode it seems like everyone especially Barry/The Flash (Grant Gustin) and Iris (Candice Patton) are still dealing with the loss of Nora. It was a tough thing to do I gotta admit, seeing Nora die and then have a last goodbye video is hard but now the video is destroyed. And Iris and Barry now have to come to terms with the loss of Nora for real but they will pull through like always.
This episode the team had to deal with a black hole, which truth be told I was hoping it was going to be something different. Like I really thought that this “black hole” was going to disguise itself as a black hole but be a portal from the dark multiverse and give us a first throw down with something from that universe but it’s okay we may still have time for that or do we? Sure enough it was only a black hole that a nerdy guy had created accidentally, then again everything scientific always happens accidentally.
But yes, the team did have its victory with stopping the black hole and bringing back together a man’s mind to his body. But let’s analyze the real thing that happened, so Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) may have created her own monster this season, by this statement I’m talking about Dr. Ramsey Rosso (Sendhil Ramamurthy) because Dr. Rosso wanted him and Caitlin to join forces to create his cure for a disease that took his mother away from him. But because Caitlin said no the doctor had to do his experiment by any means necessary. Which forced him to test the cure on himself which created Bloodwork. But I’m sure he’s going to thank Caitlin for telling him his theory could work and possibly create a meta human which is what happened.
On the side note did you see Killer Frost new suit. It was amazing, the costume designer really went out for a stylish look that would make the character really look amazing! I absolutely loved the super suit and I hope they keep it for future episodes of the season.
Now, we got word from The Monitor (LaMonica Garrett) that a crisis is coming to the universe and it will lead to Barry’s death/disappearance in the crossover. I know what a lot of you are asking, is this the end of the series if they kill Barry. Answer is no it’s not because as we saw in the comics the torch gets passed down to Wally and other speedsters throughout the years. Let’s not forget Jay Garrick is training a new speedster to take his place on Earth-2, but what if Earth-2 becomes inhabitable and the new speedster needs to find a new home? I personally would love for Barry to prove The Monitor wrong and show that he doesn’t die but Grant Gustin has hinted at the possibility of Barry dying this season. All what we do know is that Earth-1 is ground zero for Crisis on Infinite Earths. And we will see what happens in that crossover December 10th.
