Alright guys and gals we have another great episode brought to us tonight and we have a lot to talk about because a lot sure did happen. But it was a really good episode; and we have a character back from the dead we will get to all and more in just a little bit. So let’s get to this review!
So I really wasn’t expecting this but being a huge comic nerd that I am it shouldn’t have shocked me all that much but this one kind of did. We have Khalil/Payne Killer (Jordan Calloway) back from the dead after being brutally murdered by Tobias last season. Now we all saw last season Odell (Bill Duke) having his men dig up Khalil’s corpse but it was unclear as to why they did this in the first place.
Well this episode it was revealed as to what freaky Frankenstein science they did to Khalil by taking out the human component of him and make him into a mindless killing machine. Which I hate to say this but this is what Tobias was hoping to achieve with Khalil just by his own methods but now it’s the ASA’s methods to use Khalil as a mindless killing drone but how long until the monster comes to kill the creator or user in this case. I hate referencing Khalil as Frankenstein’s monster but I also feel like it’s the right setting to reference him as that and Odell and Commander Williams (Christopher B. Duncan) are like Dr. Frankenstein in this scenario.
But we did get to see Maryam (Zoe Renee) powers to see what she really can do which is really impressive. I can see Odell wanting to maybe use Maryam as a weapon against the Markovians. But I’m not even sure if Maryam will be able to last much longer if they keep draining her to her limits. But at least she made a friend out of Jefferson/Black Lightning (Cress Williams).
And it seems like Anissa/Thunder/Black Bird (Nafessa Williams) is having quite the time on her hands. Having to try to keep the peace with the local people of freeland and the other locals who agreed to help. I just hope Anissa doesn’t lose her way and start becoming more thug like than hero like, because we need Anissa to be the hero not the villain. But with the Markovians moving in on her location it might make her lose her cool every now and then.
Now last episode and this episode we were introduced to a character named Jamillah Olsen (Adetinpo Thomas) now it might be just a coincidence that she has a name similar to James “Jimmy” Olsen, but I have a theory that like on many other earths in the arrowverse and because the series is getting introduced to the universe this season that maybe they created this character to be an alternate version of Jimmy but one who chose to be a journalist instead of a photo journalist. It’s highly unlikely that’s what the true objective was but it would make a good theory.
