Alright ladies and gentleman we had another great episode brought to us tonight and it was really good! So we got a lot of good moments and a stunning ending to the end of the episode, so let’s get to this review!
So in this episode we saw Jefferson/Black Lightning (Cress Williams) see first hand how bad Freeland has gotten in his absence and he didn’t like it. Jefferson sees the takeover brought on by the ASA as a horrible thing to happen to Freeland and I’m sure he wishes he had never gone with Odell (Bill Duke). Not only was Jefferson taken out of his classroom teachings but he was thrown into becoming the new counselor for Freeland High which I guess will be alright he does lay down some good advice every now and then.
I have to admit seeing Principal Lowry (P. J. Byrne) get hit in the nose and show him he is not in charge put a big smile on my face. I really feel like he needed that to happen to him ever since season two because he has been a huge dick to everyone in that school, he’s been treating the kids like criminals, and he treats the teachers no better. Karma has its way of punishing those who deserve to be punished and Principal Lowry needed a huge dose of that Karma.
Now I’m going to admit even though I like Khalil/Painkiller (Jordan Calloway) being more like his comic book self in this season. I don’t like that it was Odell who brought him back and turned him into that such weapon. But given that Odell is having him go about freely recently there’s going to be a point when someone sees him in his assassination attempt and either tell Jennifer/Lightning (China McClain) or the police about what they have seen which then will give Jennifer a mission to find Painkiller but we shall see what happens.
And let’s just say how cute Grace (Chantal Thuy) and Anissa/Thunder/Blackbird (Nafessa Williams) are always adorable together. I love seeing them together, every single time I see them together my heart just melts every time. Although seeing Grace return to her teenage self (Stella Smith) which was a new look. But I think we all can agree she looks way better as an adult and not as a teenager going through a life-crisis. But the speech that Anissa gave to Grace about loving her for who she is, is absolutely and beautifully adorable. Like I said already it’s so adorable and we need to see more of them throughout the season being this adorable. I hope Jefferson gets comfortable with Grace being around with Anissa soon because she is not going anywhere.
In the ending of the episode we see Odell telling Jennifer that her powers are incredibly different from her fathers and that she can travel farther than what he can and he wanted her to see that for herself. Jennifer flew into space to consume energy that rayed around her as if she was consuming the sun. Have to admit that was a stunning view but will there be repercussions from consuming so much energy? Guess we will have to find out in two weeks!
