Batwoman(S01E05) “Mine is a Long and Sad Tale”

Alright guys and gals we had another great episode brought to us tonight! We finally got Alice/Beth’s story of where she was for all these years and I did not expect that to be the story, we’ll get to this in a little bit. So let’s get to this review!

So in this episode we see that Alice/Beth (Rachel Skarsten) was stealing skin fragments from clinics and hospitals which is a a horrible hobby to pick up. At the time it is unclear why Alice is taking such things from corpses but later on revealed why. Kate/Batwoman (Ruby Rose) catches Alice and sits her down for a well discussed conversation about what happened to Beth after the crash.

It is revealed that a man who goes by the name of Jonathan Cartwright was keeping Beth and a boy named Johnny (Sam Littlefield) but it is the ability that Johnny has that peeked my interest in the comics there’s a character with the same ability as Johnny but is named Jane Doe. However they had a similar character in the series Gotham so it makes sense they had to change the sex of the character again to use the character rights in the series. It’s already proven that Johnny can mimic anyone’s voice by only hearing the person one time which is bad because if he has the right skin mask to wear and right get up to wear he could become anyone at any time he would be the perfect Chameleon.

Now in the comics Jane Doe aka Jane Cartwright was able to do such things but was only seen in one comic story arc which was taking place in Arkham Asylum. But Jane had a similar role where she would take flesh masks and suits with her to disguise herself as anyone she wanted to and ran into Batman when she was about to kill Great Whit Shark villain. But it’s going to be interesting to see what Alice has planned for Johnny.

We also saw Mary (Nicole Kang) have a bit of a crisis to have to deal with and didn’t have Kate to listen to her but she sure did have Luke (Camrus Johnson) you could see that he really didn’t want to be in the room hearing about Mary’s problems but he also didn’t have a choice unless he wanted Mary to accidentally stumble upon the batcave. But after all this I think Mary has a new best friend and it’s Luke, this is either going to be a good or bad thing we’ll find out!

With more and more of the episodes airing all I can say is that this series is getting more and more interesting and more and more better. I’m already a huge fan of this show and each episode has made me an even bigger fan of the series and I can’t wait to see what they have cooked up for the next episode!
