Alright ladies and gentleman we had another great episode brought to us tonight! It had tons of mystery, and fun moments that we will discuss! So let’s get to this review!
So in this Bond, James Bond themed episode we saw that Barry/The Flash (Grant Gustin) wanted to see if he was right to choose Ralph/The Elongated Man (Hartley Sawyer) to be the next hero for the city after Barry possibly dies in the Crisis. Sure enough we know the city will be in good hands with Ralph, he might not be no Flash but he is still a hero. A hero that we all, including myself have come to love at times.
Barry chose to join Ralph in his next clue for the Sue Dearbon case. But they had to go out of the city in order to go after the next clue. Seeing Ralph and Barry work together in Ralph’s environment was really interesting and cool. I actually really enjoyed this episode, not because they brought the James Bond vibe and little bit of a music vibe to go along with it too. Even though I am a total James Bond fan but that’s a discussion for another time.
But the whole episode for Ralph and Barry’s part screamed James Bond the entire time, even the weekly villain Remington Meister (Carlo Rota) made his appearance look like a Bond villain. It’s so amazing really! Even though Ralph didn’t want to use his powers for this case only because there’s two sides to Ralph. There’s the private investigator side who relies on his intuition and smarts and then there’s the super stretchy elongated side who is quirky and loves to find ways through using his powers. And then Barry wanted to rely on only his powers to get the job done but I think this was also a teaching moment to Barry as well. Barry has been used to using his powers through any case he’s been on but what Ralph was trying to teach Barry was to stop using the abilities as a excuse to get things done fast but to more of use your own normal self to feel what you’re super power self can’t feel. To use those inner intuitions to help get the job done.
Meanwhile we had a newly awakened Chester (Brandon McKnight) trying to get that date with Natalie (Tess Atkins) that he was always wanting but sadly Chester just doesn’t know how to be himself due to what happened to him and that he might actually be classified as dead for now but hopefully not for long. Even though Natalie didn’t agree to date Chester it was an experience that I think him and all of us won’t forget.
As for Barry and Ralph, they saved the city, made a ‘Mortal Kombat’ joke to Ultraviolet (Alexa Barajas) and caught the bad guy by using the famous introductory line in any James Bond film but with Barry’s name which I just had to nod to that.
But with all the good things we got to see Ralph’s persona Elongated Man get badged as future protector of the city and we saw Barry get his own medal, Medal of Honor which is the biggest medal any man or woman can receive.
And what does Ramsey (Sendhil Ramamurthy) plan on doing with Ralph? Will we find out next time? I sure hope so!
