Alright ladies and gentleman we had a decent episode brought to us tonight but I can’t say that it’s one of my favorite episodes. So without further ado let’s get to this review!
Alright so this episode literally is what it’s titled as, the last temptation of Barry Allen/The Flash (Grant Gustin). The entire episode was basically a mindset of what or who is stronger within will power.
I honestly feel like this episode was one of those filler episodes that the show runners and the writers wanted to do just so they didn’t have to make us wait a week or two for the crossover episode. Don’t get me wrong filler episodes can be useful and can be helpful to understand the big bad of the series a little bit more and to understand what his plan of a plan of a plan that then gets turned into a twisty plan but still is his plan.
Now I do feel like that this episode did take it a bit way too extreme by trying to make Barry decide what does he really want? And we all know Barry wants to be able to survive Crisis when it comes but trying to say that Ramsey/Bloodwork (Sendhil Ramamurthy) is the answer to make him survive after being ripped apart at a subatomic level is kind of ridiculous. There is no way that Ramsey’s infectious blood can stitch people back together after being ripped apart at an extreme level.
Would it be possible for Ramsey’s blood to possibly work to maybe help Barry survive? Possibly but I doubt it, because even if it would work, like how the Speed Force (Michelle Harrison) said it would erase Barry’s soul. It’s like making a deal with the devil, when you make a deal you sell your soul.
In this situation though it was Speed Force being the angel on Barry’s shoulder and Ramsey being the little devil on Barry’s other shoulder. And I was actually rooting for the Speed Force because it was telling Barry the truth. If he trusts Ramsey then that’s it for his free will and will forever be a puppet.
But we are getting a second part to the episode which means the Speed Force still has a huge chance to help Barry save his soul. But the question is how will it? And if this does get settled somehow will Barry be able to forgive himself for any harm that he may have caused?
I do however have some theories to how the Speed Force could help save Barry in the next part, like maybe this next time won’t be a mind visit but a physical visit where the Speed Force somehow swallows Barry and then spits him out like cured from Ramsey’s control and tells him that’s the last time that it’s going to save him. Or maybe Possessed Barry will try to speed and kill Iris (Candice Patton) or Joe (Jesse L. Martin) and before he does the Speed Force opens and we see Barry and the possession being split in front of everyone where then both get thrown out and Barry then has to fight his own demons literally, but I guess we will see next week!
