We say goodbye to a beloved character.
Right away this episode picked my interest. We saw a few scenes from last season in the preview and I knew we were going to get some answers. Not all of them, but we went forward with the story and I liked that. Unfortunately, the episode didn’t end in the happiest of notes. One of our main characters died (if permanently we don’t know). But overall it was a pretty cool episode, so let’s get into it.
The main focused of the episode is really Pop. He gets away from the crowd that got “hypnotized” by the statue and we get a deeper understand to where Pop comes into all of this. The truth is, it didn’t make much sense Pop’s role, apart from raising Ace. But we get the answers to those questions right in the beginning of the episode.
Pop goes to his office where he reads some letter from Alan Pangborn. In those letters, Alan talks about the creation of Salem’s Lot (basically the flashback that we saw a couple episodes ago). Alan also mentions The Kid and that’s when everything clicks inside Pop’s head.
After that, he goes to Nadia, who’s in the hospital. Then, they are met by Charity as they are running out. Charity tells them about the people that is going after her and the three of them work on moving as quickly as possible. Still, the town people keep chasing them, and that’s when Abdi intervenes and saves the three. And so, the four of them work on getting to the Emporium Galorium, the safest place, according to Pop.
They start work on a plan to keep themselves save and that’s when our two worlds collide. Annie with two others get to Pop’s shop/office. Of course, they don’t 100% believe them so they start on working on discovering the truth. That’s when we get some pretty funny lines from Annie. She basically says that she had to kill a lot of people to get away from the Marsten House and get to the Emporium Galorium. In those “interviews” they also realize that one of them is a “zombie” and pretty quickly they tie him up. They planned on getting some answers from him but Ace surrounds the place and asks for a trade. The letters and he lets them live. Of course Pop isn’t okay with that and so they start working on another plan.
Nadia remembers a game they used to do as kids, to get on the other side of the train and so that’s the plan. Unfortunately, Pop doesn’t think he can make it so he starts working on another plan, by himself. And he puts it into action when Ace does get into the shop.
It’s a pretty elaborate plan so I’m not going to get into detail but Nadia and the others do get to the other side of the train tracks. But, of course, Pop is left behind, as he planned to and getting killed in the end of the episode by Ace. I don’t know if he’s coming back but I doubt it. Ace’s plan is to do so, since Pop burned the letters and only he knows the contents of them, but Pop also injected himself with Haldol so he won’t be “possessed” so… I guess we’ll see.
As I said, we didn’t get a lot of answers but it was enough to capture my attention.
I still want to know the whole thing with The Kid but I doubt they will explain it. I’m predicting that they’re going to use The Kid as the link between seasons. If they do end up doing that, they will have to keep the mystery going so, I guess I won’t have my answers. Still, everything is leading up to a great Season Finale so, I can’t wait!
Let us know what you thought of this episode and I’ll catch you up on the next one – Wednesday, December 11 on Hulu.
