Alright ladies and gentleman, we had a great episode of Black Lightning brought to us tonight. We had an episode that brought us action, answers, and more questions that I assume will be answered by next season. So let’s get to this review!
We are entering into a very interesting story arc, which we will see a lot of deaths happening very soon indeed. With that being said, no major deaths took place in this episode. However, I suspect that it will happen soon since we have two episodes left of the season.
In the episode, Gambi (James Remar) was going on a war path against not only Dr. Jace (Jennifer Riker), but also with Lady Eve (Jill Scott). I can understand with Lady Eve though, it’s because of her contract to kill Gambi during season one. Some of the methods he used in tonight’s episode really had me worried about him. It made me think that Gambi was going back to his old ASA ways, but I’m also glad that Gambi was only playing a part to get some answers.
During the episode, I noticed that Khalil (Jordan Calloway) was being monitored by TC (Christopher Ammanuel) more carefully than usual. This made me think about when TC said “everything looked good” to Khalil. TC wasn’t being fully honest and sure enough, I was right. Khalil showed a major glitch in the firewall that TC had orchestrated inside of Khalil. As a result of that glitch, Khalil almost killed Brandon (Jahking Guillory), TC, and Jennifer (China McClain). Thankfully, Khalil regained control and reinforced the firewall in his head.
We also saw Odell (Bill Duke) uphold his deal with Jefferson/Black Lightning (Cress Williams) to erase all data on everyone who was a part of Jefferson’s team. As well as to make Lynn (Christine Adams) a free citizen of Freeland again. This whole part really took me by surprise because Odell has always been a person who says one thing and then does another to make himself the most hated character ever. (He is just full of surprises.)
Another thing I’m really happy about includes Lynn finally opening up to her family about being an addict. It took practically the whole season for Lynn to finally realize her family was right about having a problem. I know it took a lot of courage for Lynn to tell her family about her addiction and how she plans to never use the drug that she had codenamed Glimmer.
Those of you who know comics know the name Glimmer. Glimmer was a speedster equivalent to The Flash whose responsibility in the Wonderworld was to look after prisoners. Unfortunately, the character was lost in space. I don’t know that much on Glimmer, which was probably the reason why they chose to use the characters name as a name for a drug.
Is Brandon’s father Geo-Force? I’m thinking we will find this out by the end of the season or maybe next season.
