Alright speedy readers this episode was a real treat for all of us tonight. I feel like this was an episode that is meant to close a chapter in Grodd’s story but we will get to that in a little bit. So let’s get to this review.
So in this episode Barry/The Flash (Grant Gustin) was trying to find his mother and father’s graves in the cemetery. But ever since Crisis happened, everything has changed. Every place has moved, everything is different and I think our hero is just realizing just how much it really did change and alter. Talk about being late to the party right?
Anyway, we see that Hartley/Pied Piper (Andy Mientus) is no longer a good guy. Because of Crisis, Pied Piper is even more evil and meta. So at least crisis changed that for the better. Truth be told I love Piper being villain than hero cause he has a whole lot more stories as a villain that can be played out from the comics onto the series.
When Barry returns to the lab he finds out through Gideon’s (Morena Baccarian) calculations about how many changes happened with crisis and it’s in the trillions. Barry tries to fix the device to speak to Gideon but instead electrocutes him and sends Barry into a comatose state.
Its later revealed the mind Barry is trapped in is Grodd (David Sobolov). Of all the villains in the history of the series it had to be Grodd. Then again last time we saw Grodd was season 5 when Grodd was trying to control King Shark and have him go into a rampage upon the city to make what could’ve been the greatest cgi match of history of television.
Grodd tries convincing Barry that he has changed. After the crisis, Grodd realized all his hunger for power lead him to dying and then being brought into a world he doesn’t recognize anymore. It made Grodd want to change. Which I suppose is an alright purpose to want to live your life in peace. But how long can we expect for this peace to last between new Gorilla City and civilization? It’s hard to say but at least Barry took a leap of faith to trusting Grodd and helping escape the mind prison.
In this episode we are also seeing the long stretched out plan for Eva McCulloch/Mirror Master (Efrat Dor) revealing her whole dumb personality is an act to fool Iris (Candice Patton). Somehow imposter Iris and Mirror Master share wounds so whatever happens to Eva will happen to the imposter Iris. As we saw in this episode when Eva got the burns on her arms. And I’m starting to see that Eva’s plan is to keep Iris in the mirror and to find away for only her to get out of the mirror to wreak havoc on her so called husband. I guess we will find out soon.
And how awesome was it to have Keith David return as the voice of Solovar? I thought it was amazing, even to this day Keith David is one of my favorite voice actors.
And who noticed that The Reverse Flash is working on his way to returning to the land of the living? Tell me your thoughts in the comments below.
