On the latest episode of Will & Grace, big opportunities and even bolder personalities are in the forefront. Has Karen Walker lost her edge? (Spoilers Ahead)
Seize the day?
Jack (Sean Hayes) and Estefan (Brian Jordan Alvarez) are lamenting over the fact that Coco’s is closing down. Coco’s is not just a bar, it’s a refuge, a safe place in such an unsettled world. Wouldn’t it be nice if someone took the risk to buy the place? With some nudging from Coco and Estefan, Jack decides to take that leap, now if only the bank would see it his way. He is paired with an apprehensive loan officer, Ruth (Nicole Sullivan), who does not share his vision.
There is something more at stake here than just a bar, it’s a second home, a safe place, it’s worth fighting for. They make a stand, together, bringing their passion and cause back to the bank. The cause is personal and far-reaching. It gives them the edge they need. Some things work out, and this is one of those things. In an unprecedented change of heart, Jack’s loan is approved. Here’s to bigger and better things!
The pursuit of happiness?
Karen (Megan Mullally) has a new man in her life, Phil (Joel McHale), who is charming and friendly, at first. It doesn’t take long for the red flags to drop, although Karen seems to be blind to what is really going on. She’s had such a hard time, especially when it comes to matters of the heart. Is she willing to give up her identity for this man, who may not be who he appears to be?
Grace (Debra Messing) and Will (Eric McCormack) are concerned, but Karen is having none of it. Phil is in control, and Karen is not acting like her usual self. He has a twisted hold on her and her money. His identity doesn’t match the many different names in his wallet. It’s clear he is only after her money, but the relationship has progressed faster than anyone anticipated. He is unhinged, and that becomes apparent when he “threatens” Will & Grace.
Karen is happy, even if her new lover’s motives are questionable. Why can’t she be with someone who loves and supports her? Why can’t she just hold on to this happiness? Money is a motivator and the fact that they are living together is alarming. Will Karen choose her new beau over the friends that have been by her side through it all?
A choice needs to be made, but that is to be continued.
Karen has always been a strong character on Will & Grace. She has a fierce personality, and seeing her “passive” and agreeable is highly disturbing. Since this is the last season, anything can happen, but hopefully, their years of friendship means something. It would be cruel to end years of friendship over a vindictive man. What we can be sure of is that when heartache hits, they will be there.
A new episode of Will & Grace airs Thursday, March 5 on NBC at 9/8c.
