Alright ladies and gentlemen we have another great episode brought to us! We have a little more light come our way through how a villain connects with our heroes family, so lets get to this review!
In this episode we see Jefferson/Black Lightning (Cress Williams) and Gambi (James Remar) making a plan for when Gravedigger (Wayne Brady) comes to Freeland with the Markovia forces. Even though it seems like a good plan, what happens when the chaos rampages through the streets of Freeland? I don’t think they thought that much through but that’s what heroes do, they use strategy for the beginning of the plan and then improvise afterwards. But not everyone was okay with the plan, Jennifer/Lightning (China McClain) felt like she was being sidelined only because she’s Jefferson’s daughter. However that’s not fully true, it’s because Jennifer is the most powerful meta at their disposal; he doesn’t want Markovians to have access to that power. So sidelining Jennifer is the only option in Jefferson’s mind set, is it fair, no but life isn’t fair.
Lynn (Christine Adams) chose to run some private tests to find out more about Gravedigger, it was especially the part of his life that he mentioned to Lynn in Markovia about living through World War 2 that interested her. She found out that Jefferson’s and Gravedigger’s dna and genetics all match perfectly. Which means Gravedigger is the long lost great grandfather Jefferson never really got to know much about because all what could be said was he fought in WW2 and disappeared. Which it’s interesting to find out why they chose to combine two different versions of Gravedigger for this iteration of the character for the series. It’s so he can be seen as related to Jefferson and his family, but how long can Jefferson and Lynn keep this as a secret from Jennifer and Anissa/Thunder/Blackbird (Nafessa Williams) until they find out on their own or if they ever do find out on their own.
And it looks like by next season we will possibly getting a superhero wedding of Grace (Chantal Thuy) and Anissa since the proposal happened this episode and I don’t think they will have time to do the wedding during the season finale. So it makes sense to have the first attempt of the wedding interrupted so that the actual thing can happen next season. And it looks like Grace is having some changes happening to her or how Anissa said it evolving and I think we all know what she will be evolving into. Lets just hope she doesn’t sprout a leopard tail just yet at least wait until after the wedding, lets just have Grace evolve slowly, that sounds like a good plan; right?
It looks like though, a lot of death is going to happen next episode and I don’t think anyone, including myself will be ready for it.
