How many times can you say the word “Fool” in an episode?!
Well, I’ll answer that – 3/4 times (I’m sorry, I’m not 100% sure). Okay, the incorporation of the titles in the actual episode is fun but this time it was too much. To be completely honest, I would rather have the title be the ‘theme’ and not having the actual word(s) in the script but… fine. Luckily, this didn’t make the episode any less good.
It’s interesting that this episode didn’t have as many injuries as some previous ones. Still, the opening of episode was one of the grossest scenes they’ve ever had. A teenage prank gone wrong where a guy ended with his eyes bulging out of the sockets. Yes, the look of it was as bad as you’re imagining it – even for me, an avid horror fan. Then, the other injury they had in the episode was about a couple going on their first date. Which ends with the woman stuck in the bathroom window. It wasn’t near as bad as the first one in the episode. It was actually pretty fun and it ended fairly well.
Meanwhile, the remaining of the episode focus on other stuff. The first one is about Athena investigating a woman who does not remember being shot in the head. There’s not much to this story and, in the end, as Athena predicted, it was her husband that shot her. The second main story of the episode was about Eddie and Christopher. Christopher attempts to ride a skateboard and ends up injured. This made Eddie have the difficult conversation with his son on how he can’t really do everything the other kids do. And, lastly, there’s the story of Josh – Maddie’s coworker – who goes on a date with a man from a dating app and is mugged by his date.
With all this, I guess I can say that underlining theme of the episode was love (and how love can make you fool).
There’s not much else I can say about this episode. I feel like, after all of those nerve-wrecking episodes in the first half of the season, they took some ‘time off’ from doing extreme things and this past episodes have been a bit more chill (waiting for it to get intense again).
So, this are my thoughts on the latest 9-1-1 episode. Now, I want to know yours. Let us know all your thoughts on this episode and I’ll catch you up on the next one – Monday, March 30 at 8/7c on FOX.
