1. Loveable characters: Whether it’s Leslie Knope, Ann Perkins, Tom Haverford, Ron Freakin’ Swanson, April Ludgate, Andy Dwyer, Ben Wyatt, Donna, Christ Traeger and Jerry (Larry or Gary). They may be the main course of a meal for comedy.

It’s the rest of the characters that are the ever so delicious entrees; along with that they also include others like Dr. Harris, Jean-Ralphio Saperstein, Tammy Swansons (0-2), Li’l Sebastian, Joan Callamezzo, Perd Hapley and let’s not forget Crazy Ira and The Douche. Whether you love them or hate them, no-one can’t deny that this series has the class of characters that make such a great sitcom. If you loved the characters from The Office; you’ll love the characters on Parks and Recreations.

2. Outstanding writing: The writing is the one thing that makes this series live up to other comedies. The stories are such grounded and character-driven; with a whole lot of love, laughter, and feelings. While season one had issues finding its identity, season two through seven hits it out of the park.

Whether it’s learning about Ron’s ex-wives Tammy 0-2; Leslie Knope battling to keep same-sex penguins at the zoo. From Andy and April’s wedding to the Parks staff coming together to help Leslie’s campaign; not to mention the moment that Ron tells Leslie why he was upset with her.

3. Seeing the Goodness in the Human Spirit: If there’s one thing about Parks and Recreation it is that it shows the best in people with the goodness in the human spirit. Leslie Knope is the example for good; as she tries to show that with everyone from her staff, citizens, and everyone around the world.

This special episode this Thursday makes a whole lot of sense as it’s getting everyone excited. We need a little reunion, some joy, and some inspiration. Once you watch Parks and Recreation; you’ll understand why it’s such a beloved comedy.

I’ve been a fan of Parks and Recreations since the series debut. And while the first season was good but not the best. I was glad that they got a second season and once it premiere I knew this series was going to be special. There were a lot of funny episodes one of them happens to the “Flu Season” that still has me laughing a lot. “Leslie and Ron” happen to be the one that made me cry so hard beside the series finale and others.
