Michael, thanks so much for taking time out of your schedule to talk to us.  I just want to say how much I appreciate it, and what a fan of Sense8 I am, and have been since the premier.

Toby Onwumere: Irrepressible Capheus in Sense 8

What was the best thing about filming Sense8? The best part for me was being able to meet such amazing people from all over the world and get a glimpse at how they walk through the world.

An exclusive interview with Mumbi Maina, Sense8

What drew you to this role? Zakia is a phenomenal woman. I loved that she iso beautifully open minded, I love that she portrays a different side to the African woman compared to how African women are typically portrayed in international shows.

I have two favorite scenes. Season 1- Superpower on the bike chasing Capheus who is driving. It was as exciting and exhilarating as it appears! Season 2- Riot scene. ( By this season I was the Kenyan stunt coordinator so I worked with international stunt coordinators Morgan chetcuti and Swen fischer to train actors in the stunts. I was also acting in the scene.

They fought for it and they didn’t give up. I think Trump getting elected had something to do with it, to be honest. He didn’t just fire up his base; he forced us all to wake up and realize that we can’t take the things we love about our culture for granted. I think people suddenly became much more aware of their otherness, and this was frightening. And then a show like Sense8 gets canceled and it was just too much. Especially during gay pride season! I was shocked at how emotionally charged the outcry was, and how persistent it was. Taken in context with what’s going on politically all over the world today, it makes a lot of sense. We the freaks are fighting back in our own way.
